Hello friends!
I create MIDI files on my keyboards all the time. If I use a preset style, the keyboard calls up the style used when I play back the MIDI file. But this does not happen when I use imported styles. A couple of times I have forgotten to save the style with the MIDI file, and have had to search for it the hard way. So I wonder if I can find out what style the MIDI is based on using a computer program or the keyboard?
I know that commercial MIDIs are not based on styles, I am talking about  my own MIDIS made on the keyboard.

Hi Toril,

no, unfortunately this is NOT possible. If you use a Preset Style, a Sy*** that contains the internal Style No. is automatically written to the MIDI file when recording.

With external Styles this does not work, i.e. the Style name is NOT saved in the MIDI file. Either you have to write down the name of the Style, or you create a Registration in which you memorize both the MIDI file and the Style. The Style name is then stored in the Reg Bank file (in plain text), i.e. even if the Reg doesn't work because the Style has been moved or deleted from its original location, you could still look up the name of the Style in the Reg file.

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

When you make your own midi file recording
you can add a txt or lyrics event  to add the style naam
In xgworks you can also add a copywrite event
also a style name, tempo, kind off music like tango enz.
