A couple of questions here for the group.

I use Chord Tracker and have used it with no problems so it works.

Now that we have Chord Looper it is possible to create .cld files for chord looper using Chord tracker. With my app connected and Chord Tracker running, when I highlight the bars (not exporting the full song) from the song I want to export to my Genos it goes through the motions but when I check in the chord looper folder on the Genos there is nothing there - any ideas why this isn't doing what I thought it should which is show the .cld file in the chord looper folder which I can then import into Chord Looper.

Onto Smart Pianist - I have been reliably informed that this should work once Genos v2.0 was out.  Well I have tried connecting the app on my iPhone to my Genos and it connected - despite the app saying it hadn't. I could load an audio file into smart pianist and play the song so the audio routes through the Genos so in effect what you have is the song playing whilst at the same time you can play the Genos and hear the audio from the keyboard which is great for practicing- and even better when wearing headphones.  Apart from that function I cant get any of the midi / keyboard related functions to work such as dump the chords in a .cld file to the Genos or control the keyboard settings from the app (an there are quite a few things you can control) so maybe this is a midi channel / setting issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

According to the Chord Tracker version history, v2.3.0 adds:

Now you can send chord progression as the "Chord Looper Data" to the Yamaha PSR-SX900 arranger workstation.

I haven't tried yet. Wouldn't surprise me if Yamaha needs to enable Genos in the Chord Tracker app. Their engineering practice is a little odd that way...

Just tried Chord Tracker v2.2.3 with Genos V2.0.

Chord Tracker did not offer an option to transfer the chord progression as "Chord Looper Data." It transfered the progression as a USER Song, just like before. In case any readers wonder, it puts the song in the User:\ChordTracker\ directory on Genos.

I suspect that Yamaha need to update Chord Tracker so it recognizes Genos V2.0. Yamaha can't have any users hurting themselves...  ;)

I am using version 2.3.1 and indeed you can send chord loop data to the genos but where is the received data being stored? Thats the confusing bit.  I can also send a full song which automatically goes into the chordtracker folder in the genos.

I'll have a another play around later and report back

just seen the reply whilst I was typing this - if you want to send as a chord loop then you need to highlight the chords that you want - to a max of 4 bars I think then then at the last selected bar there is a menu option to send as chord looper file - not the whole song. You can also send the whole song as previously mentioned which as we all know goes into the chord tracker folder.

Can it be, that it is transferred to the active chord looper buffer? Try to start chord looper play?

I'll give it a go later and see if that works but the logic for that is not the same as sending a whole song which exports from the app direct into the folder on the Genos.

Ill be back!

Success - you were right
Once you've highlighted the chords you want to send from chord tracker, makes sure chord looper is open, send your chords and once the transfer is complete press the green loop/play on the genos display then press start on the Genos and hey presto - the chords you sent are played and you can see the chord name in big letters displayed on the chord looper screen. You can specify which of the banks then press record then play on the genos and the chords are recorded into chord looper - then you export to save and it will be stored in the chord loop folder on the Genos. It's a bit fiddly but once you understand what's going on it works ok.

You were right about the chord file being held in genos memory but not saves until it had been played/recorded and assigned to a chord loop memory bank.

Ill have to save a few chord loops of whole songs and post them so people can experiment.

I'll do some more experimenting later and report back.

Thank you very much for the positive feedback. This is valuable for us all.

Thanks very much!

Looks like I'm out of the game as my iPad is stuck at iOS 10.3.3 and new versions of ChordTracker require iOS 11.0. Still, I appreciate the information as I'm hoping to get a newer iPad soon.

Ive been playing around with chord tracker and looper and now have a better idea of what's going on.
Ill post an update of my findings later
