So Yamaha is sending me a pre-production version of the SX-900 to try out and make some videos.

Does anyone have any specific things they want me to try out?

Hello Frank, thanks for your help!

Regarding the s975:
01. I would like to know if the keys have really improved.
02. What do you think of the new speakers.
03. Whether you can see if VH is on or off in the main screen.
04. I would like you to evaluate the Joystick and the differences of pitch bend and modulation.

Just for now! Thank you!

Hi Frank,

Exciting news  8) I am really looking forward to these videos and I bet I ain't alone.

Some videos with the new sounds and styles would be great, preferably used in "real" music.

I'd be very curious about the chord looper, too, which is a long-awaited feature.

Regards,

Vinciane

Hi my friend,
I would like to "see" the most important thing(at least for me) on a keyboard: The sound!
Please add some effects (and an EQ) of your taste for some combinations of voices and if you could play some styles to see how they sound also.
It looks like it is improved on these fields too.
Thank you in advance for your personal review and videos. :)

I would like to know how good the screen is. Can it be adjusted?

I want to hear the demo songs please

Hello Frank,

In addition to other requests I would like to hear how close you can get the Strings to sound like KIno Strings. A tall order I know but here's hoping!

Best wishes,
Richard.

Interested to see how you feel the grand, upright and suitcase piano voices compare to T5.

Hello Frank,
Thank you for your nice offer.
I would like to know if the SX 900 can read the lyrics in my MP3 files.  I email you an MP3 file for the test in the Attachement?

Greetings and thank you

Hi Frank,

I'm interested in three things.

1. Is the SX key-bed better than the S970/975... if so how is it better?

2. When saving Live Control settings in a registration... are the specific parameter values set by the knobs saved in a registration?
(I'm particularly interested in Arp Gate Time and Arp Velocity).

3. What expansion packs come preinstalled in the US version of the SX900

I suggest you try saving the 2 Live Control settings (at the same time) one way; then a different way with the same Voice and arpeggio and listen to the sound when you switch registrations. If the arp changes then the answer to #2 is yes.

Thanks in advance,
Joe H

Could you please check for us if the  Pre-Installed Expansion Packs for PSR-SX900 takes up some of the limitations of the 1GB memory. With the S975 the extra pre-installed expansion resided in the factory memory, which did not affect the 765 MB of memory.

Are there extra packs loaded in the SX keyboards. I hope not because I like to choose my own choices.

The owner's manual says that it will, if the lyrics file (CDG) is in the same folder as the MP3, and has the same name.

It appears so if you read here:

https://europe.yamaha.com/en/products/musical_instruments/keyboards/arranger_workstations/psr-sx900/vse.html

However I'm sure they can be removed or there wouldn't be the option to download them ?

Just curious.  Does a pre-production model to evaluate mean that the SX series is not finalized yet?  And, how about all those posted videos by Yamaha, Peter Baartmans, and those from other countries, who seem to be showing a finished product?  Might the model for the U.S. market be different in some ways?

I think it's finished yes, but yamaha has to discover any bugs or physical defects before making the distribution in stores.
Genos and montage today need upgrades, and sx900 will, too.
Line 70 has had updates to correct issues even after it is finished. If the company finds the defects before,
better for her, as they will not have so many complaints.

I search a bank of the SX900/700 with the link of an audio and MIDI file for the further development of my Freeware "SongList". (Fritz-tools.de)
Please, online or by email to kontakt@fritz-tools.de .
Many thanks for your support!

There are a lot of "moving parts" in a product launch, not just development. The whole Yamaha marketing and distribution machine must be cranked up, manuals written, etc. Not to mention manufacturing set-up.

From the functional point of view, the SX is probably 95+ percent complete and is likely in final QA. Given a Fall 2019 release date, Yamaha may soon be initiating the  first long production run in order to have product available in stores at final release.

That's my speculation, anyway, based on years of product development experience.

Hope this helps -- pj

Please show if Yamaha has changed anything to make the style making feature more convenient, like the step-editing...

Thank you!

Frank, how does the overall sound compare to the Tyros 5 ?

Hi Frank, I would like to know if you have added more MIDI editing tools in "Song Creator" for example: copy of specific measurements from one channel to another, and also copy of complete parts of a song (Introduction, Verse, Chorus) that includes the copy of several channels and measures at the same time. Piano roll function and magnifying glass. Thanks in advance. Hans

Can you save a registration bank and one touch setting WHILE a style or song is playing?
This was always a problem on previous keyboards and I hope they fix that.
