Hello Norman,
just like you, I own Cubase Pro 10 and also the PSR 770. To learn Cubase, a considerable learning path is required. That is a process of months and years, and cannot done is a few days or weeks. That is at least my experience! In addition, a considerable amount of time is needed to understand and work with the PSR. and its Operating System.  In addition, one has to dive in the subject of Midi. Not easy either.
I certainly don't want to discourage you, because I chose to do this anyway. Probably out of curiosity. Currently I give control of Cubase a higher priority than playing with the PSR. The works with the PSR and Cubase will probably come later. Note: this is a personal choice!
Despite the fact that Yamaha is both the owner of PSR and Cubase, you read everywhere and you have probably noticed that an (easy) integration is still a long way off. I suspect that the incorporation of Cubase is mainly applied in the hardware side of the new generation of keyboards, such as the Genos / Motif.

I personally find it interesting enough to continue with it, but I keep in mind that this will take months before I get the hang of it.
Fortunately there are many tutorials on the internet, but even then it requires a considerable investment in time to learn.
I wish you lots of wisdom and pleasure.
My best regards,
Ton

Norman just like Ton I own Mac Cubase Pro 10 plus many many other Steinberg's software . Actually since the days of floppy disks ( about 20/30 years ago ) Just as Ton says Mac Cubase/Steinberg software has a very steep learning curve and after all these years I still get lost because to some extent Steinberg's Mac software is in my books not intuitive .  That is to say, you click the wrong item and you have to revert to the last save song or project version .

If this is of any help to you perhaps you could post some questions here and also at the Steinberg's forum .

For now  Happy keyboarding .

Normanfernandez

The good news is,

I've learnt 70% of MIDI ( From where I see it)

The Interface of Cubase and My Keyboard are so different.
It gets confusing.
And the hardest part is learning alone.
Ton and psrguy,,

What's the next step?

Regards Norman.

thank you for your reply and the additional information you provided .

What you say is very true especially trying to learn on your own .

In my case @ my age of 80 +++ it is becoming harder just to remember however I have nothing else to do except waste time learning about computers and making music .

You are welcome to post your questions here at PSR forums .  There are many Cubase users at the PSR forums .  You can also send me a ' PM " ( Personal Message ).

Steinberg also have an excellent forum .

Hope to hear from you soon .

And of course Happy Keyboarding .

Hi Norman, for what it is worth. I guess you know your psr. quite good. As I came from a Technics (Kn7000) keyboard I have spend last months a lot of time to learn the Yammie software. I guess I know 60% of its intern OS. At this moment I spend mostly time to dive in Cubase and made some instrumental songs (EDM). It is fun to do and I am my own fan and I like the results ;-)). It was meant as a learning process to make a song, as when a problem occured, I had to search a tutorial which explained how to do it right. ('Learning by doing - method). Step by step it becomes clearer for me.
The next step (for me) is to use the 770 together with Cubase to compose my own songs. I have allready discovered how to make a connection with the 770 and Cubase. But that's now not a priority (for me!).
I have some (simple) songs which I made with Cubase on my soundcloud account, to illustrate what I meant. I realise that there is just a long way to go, but for now I like to follow this road.
Just my 2 cents, regards
(PS. the url, if you are interested to listen to some simple Cubase-songs is: www.soundcloud.com/myguitarsong :Perigord, Cantobre, Pujols and Bastides as an example. You are warned, it is EDM ;-))
My best regards,
Ton

Thank you @PSRguy for you kind words. I appreciate that you made time to listen to the songs.
@psrguy: I tried to follow your SC-url, but it doesn't work right as I have to login on your account. Maybe the url is not right??

On topic: @Norman. It is t.m.h.o. important to ask yourself what will be my intention to use Cubase (or any other DAW). For instance are my goals to use it for: mixing and mastering my songs/ editing my (midi)songs/ making my own styles/ sounddesign/ recording and finetuning my keyboard songs. Will I use my keyboard together with Cubase or use it separately. etc. etc. I guess that each theme has it own way to get the most out of Cubase.
My best regards,
Ton
