YEM vs previous VoiceCreator...

First of all, I wanted to thank Yamaha  to allow  a "free of charge" licence upgrade of my old Premium Packs (previously bought for my T4) on my new T5. That's cool... BUT...

YEM, even it is a software upgrade for expansion boards (with new formats  as REX or SF2 for example...) is a real regression compared with the previous Voice Creator (which was a basic and easy way to create sampled voices/load or delete them one by one and have a real view/control on the flashmemory status directly from the Keyboard)...

Even if Yam just wants to limit the flashmemory use to the Official Premium Packs, what is that "f...g" ergonomy? What the Hell formating the whole flashboard when loading a single new pack?!!!.... Of course, no way quickly adding/deleting a single voice...

It's not a problem for me=  my T5 is installed in my home-studio and I'm piloting VSTis for additional pro sampled sounds... but for those who are gigging!!!! :o

It is not true that you have to format a whole flashboard for loading one sample.
Look at video.

Thanks for this link skobu... It means that when you have already an installed user pack, you can edit "its"  voices one by one (loading anddeleting)???? For a whole  new pack, I can't find a way  to avoid total re-formating....

If you install a pack from an installation file on USB the memory reformats.
Installing via WiFi gives a better chance of YEM not calling for a reformat. But it depends on how much memory is currently free in comparison with the new pack"s requirements, and how broken up it is.
Even using Wifi a reformat may be carried out presumably to ensure the new pack can reside in a continuous uninterrupted part of memory.

is it even possible if you just connect the S975 or Genos onto the YEM on pc instead of USB? I'm more in a Home Studio.

Hello, I fully agree with Mao, the YEM is a pain. I have a PSR S770 and the YEM fills V E R Y fast. that's why I stay with my Tyros 4. I can add UVN voices even on the fly IF I need to do this, it only takes a few seconds. No computer, iPad, phone or other junk needed. Just have to remember to remove the wave files later if you do not want to keep that voice. Regards, Den
