Will be getting a 975 as soon as I break my wife down  ::) ::) ::) !!!
I currently have a 900 and know that there have been lots of changes with the expansion packs being a major addition.
Trying to get my brain around how they work and the best way to purchase some in the beginning.

Have some questions:
1. What is the most popular expansion pack that most of the US players purchase?
2. Are there other sites besides Yamaha Soft that sell expansion packs of voices and what can you recommend for someone who will probably want to add to and improve the piano, guitar and sax voices.
3. Are the voices that come with most expansion packs that much of an improvement?

Any other advice is greatly appreciated.

You might want to download Yamaha's free expansion packs first before you buy any.  It will give you experience with installing packs and learning how the YEM software works.

Dear Roger,
whatever answer could be questionable since it is based on your own personal taste.
The S975 is well equipped with plenty of great sounds, and the expansion memory is a great
pocket to "customize" the keyboard to the intent you're targeting.
Both Yamaha and third party expansion packs are available on the market to satisfy almost
any need...

I agree with Joe.
Get the free packs first.

Also the 975 should have good Default sounds

I have the 770 and used the 970.
So as far as my knowledge goes
975 would most likely have everything you need
