Hello,
I know there are some mellotron voices out there to be loaded via the YEM-software into the keyboard.
But I wonder if it is possible to create a mellotron-like sound with the onboard-voices and a creative use of the internal effects?
Perhaps somebody has tried to create a mellotron flute for "strawberry fields" or some mellotron strings to use for "nights in white satin"?
I use a PSR-S970 and would like to hear about your experience in creating such instruments.

Merry Christmas to you!

I've never tried to create a Mellotron-like flute sound, such as from "Strawberry Fields Forever," but I wonder if you could create something suitable by layering a flute voice with another type of voice, such as a synth voice or an organ voice-- possibly a pipe organ voice?

Hi !

With the built-in possibilities this is not really authentic. You can limit the High and Low Frequencies by using the equalizer (to emulate the aging of the tape), but there is no noise generator that simulates tape noise. You could emulate the fluctuations of tape speed with a very slow Leslie DSP, and perhaps use a lo-fi effect, but the real authenticity of the typical tape loop will not be achieved.
Mellotron samples are far more authentic and do not necessarily require much memory in the instrument. So why work with the built-in possibilities, if a sample function is available. The difference will be enormous even with the most loving editing, which is very limited with the existing edition parameters.

Hello,

I was looking for a good Mellotron sample and found this free one (licensed as Creative Commons):

If you change your mind, this is the SF2 to be imported. It sounds great! :)
