You guys still don't understand?
Once Yamaha give us the tools, they will loose most of their software customers  ;)
This is one of the reasons why YEM are a construction from the Stone age.

Hi !

Yamaha is wrong. The "average user" will hardly be able to use the extended functions, since most of the know-how is missing. He will continue to buy Yamaha software.
The "power user" usually does not buy software from Yamaha anyway, since he does almost everything himself.

It is therefore a misconception of Yamaha that further functions would disturb the sales of the software. If Yamaha offered a YEM "Pro" for a fee, it would be an incentive for people to buy the instruments, as they would finally have a full and up-to-date sampler at hand.

As always ... Japanese narrow-mindedness. If Yamaha goes on like this, then comes the day where more and more "power users" jump off and turn to other options. Once the customers are gone, it will be difficult to get them back.

Hi --

Peter, we share your pain. There are several people on the Forum who develop their own voices using YEM.

I was told (by a Steinberg rep) that new feature requests from individual users are not likely to be implemented. If many users request a feature, it is more likely to be implemented. Yep, Steinberg is not all of Yamaha, but this is a common principle in software marketing and development.

I wish there was a way for all of us who need YEM enhancements to take our collective case to Yamaha. Like others, I've made a personal plea to Yamaha reps, Yamaha support, etc. There doesn't seem to be a way to communicate with Yamaha YEM managers/developers directly like the Yamaha IdeaScale forum for synths. On that forum, members can vote for new product ideas and it's easy to see which ideas are the most popular, needed and wanted.

Unfortunately, comments like ours -- buried in a thread titled "Metal guitars for Genos" -- are unlikely to be heard.

All the best -- pj

This is the way Yamaha seems to be thinking..

But i tend to agree with Peter..

Except for the fact that in my book the narrowmindnessness comes from the European arranger team more then the Japanese team.... when you look how the US based synth team has developed over the last decade, it proves that Yamaha in Japan must be listening to them..   because there is just a single Japanese develoment team working mostly based on the input of the worldwide marketing teams..

I doubt its Yamaha Japan...
Because the difference in everything between the US team and the EU marketing team is shocking..

If they open up the system, the only one that will really benefit is Yamaha..in the long road..and offcourse all the customers..
