Hi,

In one of the previous threads I was reading the S975 has a very excellent sound quality.
I may hope so. I ordered one yesterday.

Would like to know if the S975 has a Genos or a Tyros5 sound or ... a complete different sound ?

Thanks for your reply !

Hello Babette --

I'm not sure what you mean by "sound" in your question. The quality of the audio output? The quality of the voices? Of the effects?

The S975 is a terrific keyboard. I play an S950 and a Genos. The older S950 still sounds great to my ears even though it doesn't have all of the voices, effects, etc. of the Genos. The S975 should keep you going for years!  :D

All the best -- pj

I have recently purchased an S975. I was not familiar with the S950 or S970, but was surprised that the S975 speakers deliver so much punch, especially when the "Powerful" option is selected. The 8 channel EQ options provide very flexible adjustments.

Output to external speakers or headphones will not contain the same dynamics as the on-board speakers.

Thank you for your reply.

The sound of the audio output is very important for me.
It looks to me the S975 offers the user a dynamic audio output.

Good news apparently.

The 975 is a small improvement over the 970, and that last one sounded very much like a Tyros 5.

Hi Robert,

One said before the S975 should sound better than the S970.
See previous threads written by ex S970 owners who upgraded from 970 to 975.
Only a very few were upgrading, I guess.

I think you might be right.
No so much sound difference between these two kbs.

Hello,
Got the s975 yesterday early evening and have had some time to delve into the machine.   The s970 was boxed up to be transported
back to the dealer so was not able to play the voices or styles side by side.   I have not made any comparison to the tyros 5 as
seriously doubt that the s975 voices will be matched.
With that said the 1st thing i did was alter the master  EQ to the Enildo settings... So whatever i heard was with those settings.  There
is a setting called "powerful" which is quite good .. also the s975 added a "subwoofer" setting.
Sound output,,,  To my ears the s970 had more output... I used to have the volume dial on half and it was pretty loud.   The s975
either needs to have the song setting pumped up to 127 or the volume dial a bit louder.   this was the only thing
maybe on the negative side so far.     Keyboard feel and mic output, just fine.
STYLES...........   There are  83 PLUS styles, 5 are more DJ.  and the rest different styles.  very nice ,, could not try
                           them all.
The panel styles situated the same but the latin and ballroom categories are now One button.
VOICES.............  there are 122   plus voices    some are kits,,,
The panel voices i tried using the demo button sound good.     The organ and accordion categories are combined.
DRUMS................ even my husband noticed a difference in depth and fullness,,
OTS....................   have not tried all but most i tried the voices seemed more balanced and fuller.
MULTIPADS..........    same ones,,, nothing new   , but maybe the drum pads are a bit better, have not tried everything.
ORGAN FLUTES......  demo'dd the different settings,, very nice but in honesty could not compare to the s970

This is just a brief overview so far.   My plans are to try all those s970 Oni supermegaplus styles and the 970 genos conversions.
Also want to get better acquainted with the live controls... Had them on the 970 but never really mastered using them.
The layout is the same..  Button touch,, seems to be just fine... very responsive.
Yes, a small upgrade , not like going from 910 or from the 950 to the 970,,, but the voicing and sounds are improved alot.
Have ordered a Genos and no delivery until mid july so maybe can compare after that.

Will try to report as go along the new machine route.   With this one i do sleep at night.
All in all still pleased with this upgrade....   why not?

cheers
