Amp placement

hi,

My setup is in a small bedroom.  I'm using a pair of peavey keyboard amps via a mixer for all my keyboards.  Right now, the amps are on each side of the keyboard, facing out, so the sound is firing past me toward the opposite wall.  Is that the optimal placement?  I was wondering if it would sound better if they were behind me on that opposite wall, so the sound was aimed back at me.  In that scenario, the sound would be coming at me from behind.

What do you folks think?

When performing, I like to place a speaker on each side and a few feet behind me, angling inward where I can hear each clearly and where the path of the sound would actually be optimum right in front of me, on a dance floor if one was present.
Newer speaker technology, like the line array systems make this much easier to do and they can be clearly heard most anywhere in the room.
Having said this, in my office/studio/practice area, I have them in front of me and facing back toward me, so I can heard every nuance the way an audience would normally.  This lets you optimize the sound.
Hope this helps.

Line array systems, such as the Bose L1, L1 ModII and Bose L1 Compact consist of a series of small speakers contained in a vertical column. They have a very wide horizontal dispersion and often cover 180 to 210 degrees, while conventional speakers cover 45 degrees at best. They also tend to not distort or have feedback problems of conventional sound systems.

Here is a video made by Bose which explains the Line Array concept which not only applies to Bose products but in many ways to other Line Arrays currently on the market.
