(forgive crosspost w/ Synthzone)

I'm into week 2 w/ Genos and despite a few snarls am very impressed. The reviews here have been very helpful...if you're considering this instrument or are on the fence, just read the reactions of folks as they've learned the board. I won't do an exhaustive review but here are a few things I've noticed that are just big steps forward....for context: I didn't own Tyros but played on T4 a few times, I know some of what's below was implemented in T5...

The editable and tweakable DSPs. it's easy to see in the Voices pages exactly what effects are engaged and more than that, it's possible to tweak/change these to suit your sound. I remember puzzling over the PA800 setup for effects; this is so much easier (and in my opinion more musical).

The Quick Record/MIDI option. finally. Yamaha now offers a way to "jot down" a short idea, groove, chord sequence via MIDI and then Mark start/end points and loop.

The Ensemble feature. didn't think it would interest me but wow.

The Live Control matrix. great for shaping sounds, quickly balancing various parts, etc. bonus points to Yamaha for not just bundling the same arpeggiator used in the 970 -- the 6 knobs allow for control of rate, resonance and other elements, each changing the "vibe" of the arpeggio selected.

Drums/percussion in styles. Sonically great, with nice atmosphere and depth. I appreciate how, on many of the styles, Yamaha sets the first variation (A) to an extremely minimal bare-bones pattern. refreshingly useful, not too busy!

there's more but I'll stop there....thanks you guys...
