we just got a SX920 to test in our studio. very interesting. and fun. but we need it to interface with protools as a master and midi sequencer. it doesnt look like the midi setup on this will allow control from another inputs source like external protools midi and our midi master keyboard rig. looks like all we can do is export on a usb and then use the samples as a source...

anyway, well see yamaha at namm and get more input...

Welcome to the PSR Tutorial Forum, @mediawest!

The SX920, like all PSR-S/SX models as well as all Tyros and Genos models, can of course work with all DAWs regarding MIDI.

Are you working with Pro Tools on Windows or macOS?

Best regards,
Chris

both mac and pc. i have installed the 64bit drivers, and i know the computer is seeing the psr, but protools, [newest version] doesnt have the sx listed in the yamaha list,  [who has a tx816 anymore?], and that midi channels are not talking to the psr to be controlled by protools. i have 4 other keyboard controllers with no issue, but the psr has its own sys ex midi, and it might see channel 1 but not multi timbral, or be able to transmit to separate channels. like channel 10 should be the drum samples. but again the midi is different... went thru all the system setting on the manu panel, and it appears it should just show up, but isnt.

thanks for the input before we return it to yamaha.

by the way, yamaha so called customer service in the usa, is lousy.
