I made a note of a particular style and settings when I first started to use the 920. I took a photo of the screen (and yes I know I can save on the instrument itself in registrations).I even made a written note with all the settings:
Voice:Percanddrums
Style:ClassicBigBand
Left:Vibraphone
R1:CFXConcertGrand
R2:BigBandTrumpet
R3:PopHornsAccent
Into:3
Variation:D
I did so to demo to my parents (both well into theirs 80s and would love to hear what my new keyboard can do).
I thought it would let them experience a really cool sound I know they would like. So I was going to let the 920 do all the work...
I returned to those same settings just now and its nothing like it was the other day, and I have set it up identically!!
Where have I gone wrong?
Regards,
Steve

It's hard to tell from what you posted. Eq could have changed. Voice parameters could have changed.

Why didn't you just save the settings in a registration?

Cheers,

I did a factory reset.
Called up the settings I wanted and now all saved in a registration....

Thanks

Hi Steve,

The settings you mentioned and noted/photographed are only a very small part of the settings that are actually active. There are thousands of parameters that define a particular setting.

Please take a look at the "Parameter Chart" section in the SX920 Data List . If you don't have this manual yet, you can download it from the following link. If you haven't already, download all the other available manuals from there too.
>>> Guets are not allowed to view links. In order to access the links, please Register or Login

Please also note that voices called up using the OTS (One Touch Settings) of the styles can sound completely different (usually better) than if you call up the relevant preset voices directly. This is because edited voice and effect parameters are stored in OTS (similar to registrations), i.e. the relevant preset voices are called up by an OTS, but certain parameter values are also changed at the same time.

To save panel settings (including, for example, certain OTS settings that you particularly like), you should always use registrations. Please make sure that at least the "Style", "Voice" and "Keyboard Harmony" checkboxes are ticked in the MEMORY dialog when you memorize a registration. Note that the checkbox for "Style" is necessary so that the LEFT voice is also memorized.

By the way, you shouldn't do a factory reset for every little thing; it is only very rarely necessary or recommended. Every time you restart the SX920, certain standard settings are loaded anyway (and the last registration bank used is loaded, but no registration is activated from it).

It is recommended that you use one (or more) so-called "start-up registrations". In the future, you can call up such a start-up registration directly after switching on the instrument, and your preferred settings will be loaded immediately.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris
