Hi everyone,

I bought my dad a brand new PSR A5000 back in 2021. Couple of month ago the Keyboard turns on but the only thing that works are the power button, touch screen and occasionally the key's (they cut in and out). All the rubber buttons, volume knob, ect. are all unresponsive and do not work at all.

Also the led lights that are omitted are do not have the correct color and some look faded. We tried to contact Yamaha but they want us to send it to them because where we live no one knows how to work on it and we do not want to be test subjects to break the Keyboard more.

Any idea on how to find the issue would be a great help!

I would not try to fix it yourself.

I would do as Yamaha suggested and send it back to them and have it fixed correctly.

Welcome to the PSR Tutorial Forum, @Pharoah!

I recommend first checking the external Power Supply and its cables/plug (having a specialist checked) or testing an equivalent power supply. It must be ensured that the power supply (Yamaha PA-300C, Output 16 V DC/ 2.4 A) provides the mentioned nominal voltage of 16 Volts correctly if the keyboard is connected.

In my opinion, this is the only thing you can do yourself (or an electric specialist). If the power supply is not the reason for the incorrect behavior of the keyboard, only a Yamaha Service Center or an electronics specialist who is familiar with Yamaha arranger keyboards will be able to help.

First, the best thing to do is contact the music store or the online retailer where you bought the PSR-A5000 and ask for it for help.

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)
