Any opinions on Yamaha's recommended Subwoofer compared to others for SX700

I'm thinking of getting a sub for my SX700. Yamaha seems to pair the sx keyboards with their ks-sw100 but is there any reason to stick with Yamaha?

I can get the Yamaha for £143 but for £155 I could get the Presonus Eris Sub 8BT which has more features such as a phase switch as well as high and low pass filters which the Yamaha lacks.

Don't know anything about speakers so I would appreciate any advice.

I personally don't see any reason to put a ton of money in a sub.  I use one and it does add a nice low end.  Many brands are available and I haven't heard much bad about any name brand.  The hi pass may be good to mess with to improve the sound, but unless you have a speaker monitor system with a lo cut setting to match with the sub, it prob won't make much difference.  It will also depend on your performance, ie in a small room with the SX700 speakers only, an 8" sub is fine, vs a large venue, where you need to have active PA speakers and increase the sub size and power the more space you have, like a 2000W 18" sub.

I own the PreSonus 8BT and am very happy with the sub. I think the sub has significantly improved the sound of my PSR-S900.

The Presonus sub is much more versatile than the Yamaha sub.

With the Presonus low pass filter you can set whether the sub should only amplify the very low frequencies or also slightly higher frequencies.

The phase switch allows you to adjust the phase of the sub. This is described in the manual; you simply select the position where the low frequencies are more clearly audible. This is necessary for my combination.

With the high pass filter you can possibly improve the playback of connected satellite speakers.

If you have connected satellite speakers, you can also pair your cell phone with the sub via Bluetooth. The satellite speakers then don't need to have Bluetooth.

With the PSR I operate the sub without satellite speakers.

Should you buy a subwoofer?

I recently moved from an SX700 to a SX900, this was a pre owned model and came with a Yamaha sub. The sub has made a noticeable difference.

A sub will make a difference, especially a tight one. I can tell you from putting one on the floor, that while the KSSW100 does add a lot more bass, it's *not* tight, so not really that helpful. I haven't tried, but I'd assume a Yamaha HS8s sub or a KRKS104 would both be a lot tighter based on what I've heard at our reference monitor station.
