I bought that BBC2 and had no idea how problematic its install is. Maybe it's my age (82) but I really don't know how to map its CC to make it work with my Tyros 3. I bought that MIDI USB Host from Kenton. Midi gets through to MIDI B CH1, and I can see the data LED from the BBC2 responding, but it still doesn't control the expression because it requires to map the CC on the Tyros3. It can be done with my MFC10, I was told. I would be very grateful for your expert advice.

Thank you in advance for your help, Joh333

Hi --

I don't have any specific experience with the BBC2, Kenton or Tyros3. Once upon a time, however, I did get a Yamaha WX11 working with a Yamaha TG-500 tone module.

The general strategy is to aim each of the MIDI control streams at MIDI continuous controllers which the Tyros3 recognizes and understands.

The BBC2 generates four streams: breath (pressure), bite, nod and tilt. TEControl claim to have a configuration application through which one can choose the specific MIDI CC for each stream. I recommend aiming the BBC2 at continuous control parameters that the Tyros3 already understands, e.g., modulation (CC1), expression (CC11), maybe filter (CC71 or CC74). Pitch bend is another candidate; pitch bend is its own MIDI message type.

Having hassled with Yamaha tone modules before, it's probably easier to configure the BBC2 instead of bending the tone generator (Tyros3) to your will. :)

I would try to get one control parameter working first, then scale up. Maybe get breath pressure to control MIDI expression (CC11) loudness since the effect should be most audible.

Hope this guidance helps -- pj

Thank you pjd for your responds... Interesting to note that the BBC2 generates four streams: breath (pressure), bite, nod and tilt. Yet, instead relying on computers, I prefer to map it with my MFC10 MIDI foot controller. Some data of the BBC2 reaches the Tyros because when I breath in it the LED of CH1 (of MIDI B) flickers, but no expression changes are happening because the BBC2 needs to be mapped to the Tyros.
Thus, I need to find someone who knows how to do do it via the MFC10. At least I can still follow instructions...  :)
Kind Regards, Joh333
