Hi all,

Here you can download the "DX7 Pack" for Genos2:
>>> DX7_Pack.zip

The pack contains 65 DX7 (FM) Voices. See also the attached screenshot.

Please note that this pack only works with Genos2 and that YEM V2.10.0 is required to import the .cpf pack file. The zip file also contains a .cpi file to install the pack directly on the Genos2 without YEM as well as a pack list (.pdf and .xlsx format).

Best regards,
Chris

If I correctly understood, these voices are not sample, but parameters for the new FM engine.

I understand that the "pack strategy" lets the customer choose what packs he/she needs and how to organize the user memory.

But I imagine the size of such pack is low. Difficult to understand why it was not directly integrated into the G2 voices.

If the pack is parameters for the DX 7 then Yamaha have control over the sounds .
In fact that will mean we will not be able to load dx sounds up into packs of our own

Chris --

Thank you for posting this. I won't be upgrading this time around, but I will look at this pack to see if there is another way to create DX7 voices.

Take care -- pj

Maybe there is a way to import DX7 patch data into YEM and create DX7 packs(?)

???

The only thing i can say is to sample with Sample Robot and import into Yem
DX7 files are not huge but the sampling would  be lengthy to make a great pack of Sf2

i would not recommend sampling dx7 voices when an FM engine is available onboard.

the beauty of FM is that you get an incredible dynamics, in fact the FM algorithm will generate subtle variations for each of the 127 MIDI velocity steps for every note on the keyboard, resulting in a highly expressive sound that is a pleasure to play.

sampling typically only uses a couple of velocity layers and not every note on the keyboard, in other words a very poor job of capturing FM synthesis.

don't waste your time sampling, the G2 contains a large number of great DX7 presets onboard, recreated with true FM synthesis.

I am not worried about the DX sounds now as i have figured a way of Using VST'S with Genos 2
Very simple to set up and it fooled me for a while because VST kept interferring with the styles
Now all perfection :)

I registered my Genos2 but never received a download link to the DX7 expansion pack.
I appreciate the link being posted above.
I found that I liked many of the expansion voices better than the ones built in.

You're welcome RayClem! Thanks for your kind feedback. :)
