I just received my Genos 2, I downloaded the firmware update on a formatted new flash drive!  When I try to install it, I receive a message, "please insert the install media"!  I have tried several flash drives with the same outcome.  Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Arthur

Have you tried formatting one of the flash drives using the Genos2?

The drive needs to be formatted FAT32. Your drives may be formatted NTFS.

Have you unzipped the file before storing it on the flash drive?

Hi Arthur

The file needs to be in the root of the USB stick. Make sure it is not within a folder. The file you want should end with a .PRG extension. Also make sure you do not have any other USB sticks inserted.
If that still does not work, I would delete all traces of the file from your USB sticks AND your computer, then download it again.  Once in a while files can get corrupted in the unzip process.

There is another USB in the bottom of de Genos2 behind a flap
Also a USB stick you can have more than one section
Also when using USB hub you can have more USB devices with multiple sections

In most cases this happens, the used USB stick is not compatible with Genos2. You should try a stick with no more than 4 or 8 GB capacity

I have always had one permanent installed in bottom USB as an additional 'drive', and use the top for all kind of use, included software updates.
Never had any problen, either at G1 or G2 as I now have.
Just remember to unzip the xxx.PRG file to root of the USB, put it in top, and restart as described in update documentation.

First thing I did when unboxed G2, was to put USB stick with stuff from G1 and closed the cover.
After plugged all wires etc there was to plug in, I inserted the update at top USB and started the G2 as described in manual. Updated successfully!

The thing to remember further on is to have no other sticks inserted at startup, just wait to plug in any other till G2 is up and running. Then the bottom will always show as USB1 and next plugged inn will be USB2 and so on.

Greetings!

I'm not sure what my problem is or if I even have one. I never used the underneath USB when I had Genos1. With all the vicious comments about Genos2 having less memory I thought I would add a 64G stick and keep it permanently installed underneath. I use smaller USB sticks on the front port for adding new/old content and OS updates. Genos1 worked flawlessly using that single USB stick.

With Genos2 I had no problem updating the OS with the 64G stick underneath. I used another smaller USB stick on the front port with the update in its root directory.  The "problem" I'm having is that sometimes Genos2 shows 3 USB drives installed. USB1  USB2  USB3.   The only drive I can read is the smaller drive on the front port. The 64G stick says "data not installed correctly" or it shows nothing. If I power down Genos2 and reboot the 2 drives appear in their normal positions with all the correct data. Sometimes I can play Genos2 for several sessions and it shows 3 drives again.  I've reformatted everything and the same thing happens, but NOT each time Genos2 reboots. I have this fear in the back of my mind that all my USB data could permanently disappear.  I back up everything now before I turn Genos2 off..........................

Yes, I could remove the underneath USB when I do an update but that's a pain in the kiester and I never had to do that before. I feel that I am gambling losing my data each time I play.  I need to solve this!   Thanks.  -charley

With Genos or Genos2 if you have playlist on the stick you have in the underside it must always read USB1. If transferring content from a USB plugged into the front port it will read USB2. Just copy your content and then remove the stick. Never switch on with USB drives in front or back or you will get confusion.
