I thought that side-by-side comparison table for Genos 2 & 1 might be helpful. when looking at this table I have mixed feelings ( kind of happy that my current Genos is still good and kind of upset that I had more expectations and visualized a new dreamful arranger.
Thanks,
Ali

Today I ordered a Genos2 since I am so curious, although I think Yamaha this time have re-used the main part of Genos hardware for making Genos2 arranger but it seems that Yamaha has put lots of time and efforts on making a new music arranger software which is probably superior than the previous one. It is like you have two laptop with the same CPU and RAM but one running Win10 and the other running Win11.
in situation like this that Yamaha does not upgrade the main part of the hardware, I hope Yamaha provide a software upgrade package with a fair charge (for example $1000) for the Genos users so they can replace the existing Genos factory sounds, samples & styles with the new Genos2 factory sounds, Samples and Styles.

Good to have that comparison, thnx. Do not let spoil your enthousiasme for the keyboard you once bought. Go back to the good feelings you once had or still have when you play the Genos. It is still a great keyboard, nothing has changed.  If something is changing it is your mindset, not the Genos  ;D
My best regards,

Good comparison.

One update: in the LessonGuide, the Genos has the same options as the G2.

What you say is so true.

Expectation rarely translates into reality, as in this case, and apart from some blingy coloured lights and new styles, I don't feel that the circa 5K represents sufficient difference to buy.
No Yamaha keyboards at present.

All i can say is if you can afford it, it is a no brainer :)
If you are over 70 like me and feel great , why not.
As you know at this age everything speeds up related to time.
So time to enjoy yourself

Enjoy yourself lyrics Guy Lombardo

You work and work for years and years, you're always on the go
You never take a minute off, too busy makin' dough
Someday you say, you'll have your fun, when you're a millionaire
Imagine all the fun you'll have in your old rockin' chair

Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think
Enjoy yourself, while you're still in the pink
The years go by, as quickly as a wink
Enjoy yourself, enjoy yourself, it's later than you think

You're gonna take that ocean trip, no matter come what may
You've got your reservations made, but you just can't get away
Next year for sure, you'll see the world, you'll really get around
But how far can you travel when you're six feet underground?

Your heart of hearts, your dream of dreams, your ravishing brunette
She's left you and she's now become somebody else's pet
Lay down that gun, don't try my friend to reach the great beyond
You'll have more fun by reaching for a redhead or a blond

Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think
Enjoy yourself, while you're still in the pink
The years go by, as quickly as a wink
Enjoy yourself, enjoy yourself, it's later than you think

You never go to night clubs and you just don't care to dance
You don't have time for silly things like moonlight and romance
You only think of dollar bills tied neatly in a stack
But when you kiss a dollar bill, it doesn't kiss you back

Couple of small things - The audio recording and playback entries are the wrong way round for G1 - they are both the same on G1 and G2. G1 also has arpeggios like G2. And for the full picture you should perhaps add the 'style dynamics' and 'ambient drum depth' features that G2 has, even if they are not on the official 'spec' tables, since they are new on G2.

Enjoy yourself

As Eileen use to say, there is no pockets in the corpses shirts.... we don't get anything with us.
Darn, it's true. It's not even enough room for Genos or anything else in the final apartment 6 feet under. No windows, no electricity og fresh water. Seems like a dark and boring future.  ???
We better have as fun as possible while we still can.  ;D

I am really excited to receive my Genos2, I really like this feeling of waiting for the the newest and latest big thing to arrive as it doesn't happen that often. It's really exciting. Yes I know the update may not be as groundbreaking as was first thought, but there is enough new content there to be had.

The Genos 2 is using different technology to Genos 1 so I can't see this happening. We have to move on to take full advantage.

Well, no, it isn't.

There's no doubt that G2 is "better" than G1. But it's the same thing under the hood, just with updated software (and a few tweaks like adding Bluetooth)

When G1 came out, there was some hope that perhaps it would provide a hardware platform that could last for a number of years and accept software updates (that were more than just small fixes). In the end only G1 V2 did that, which was a bit of a shame.
