Hi . Can i download musicfinder to a usb stick and just play from that on my tyros 5 without actually downloading it onto the tyros.
Cheers Margaret

No Margaret this is not possible. All Music finder is is a list of song titles and a link to the on board styles Yamaha thinks it suits. You then use the OTS for your voices.
I much prefer to choose my own style and voices for a song I want to play and then make a registration up and store it in a folder created on the Hard Drive My favourite songs.

As long as you're using preset styles, it will work.

Hi Margaret,

You can of course work with several different Music Finder files (.mfd) (which are stored on the USB stick or on the Tyros5 hard disk).

However, this cannot be done "directly from the USB stick", but you always have to LOAD the desired file first (in the Music Finder display). To do this, use the "REPLACE" option, because with "APPEND" the song entries ("records") of the file in question would be added to the currently loaded Music Finder.

Important: Please save the status of your current Music Finder as a file beforehand so that you can load it again later.

Hi Margaret,

Please read page 81 in the Tyros5 Owner's Manual, which explains in detail how to load Music Finder files (.mfd) onto the Tyros5 (e.g. from a USB stick). :)

Best regards,
Chris

Margaret,

Just like styles, registrations, voices, you have to load them for them to work on your keyboard. Just as you can load a style from a USB, you can load a music finder from USB. But, just like styles, there's no such thing as them playing off the USB. They have to be loaded first.

Fred

Hello Margaret Is there a reason you want to play things from a USB stick rather than load them to your Hard Drive which has 500 Gb of memory so no fear of running out.

Hi Eileen. I thought i maybe able to put the musicfinder from this site onto a usb and play it like i do with the styles i've downloaded. Sorry i do tend to get a bit ahead of myself. I have 2300 songs on my keyboard so maybe i should be happy with that.
kind regards Margaret

EileenL

Do you mean you have Songs you have recorded or just song titles. I tend to flip through my music books and find a song I want to play. Then I select a style I like and make a registration bank up with the voices I want to use. I find this more satisfying than using the music finder.

Hi folks,
Even after a few years I have not found the way to use the music finder songs
Can I put foreword my thoughts of how it might be used, perhaps someone might put me on track
Are they just a load of songs with styles ?
If so do I find voices for them and perhaps then store them in the regbank
Are they meant to be used in another way ?

The voices are in the OTS of the style.
