Hi all, I'm looking for a more contemporary 3/4 style - hopefully light rock to powerful ballad style. Those of you who know Keith and Krysten Getty music, they play a lot of powerful 3/4 ballad songs. They always seem to have an Irish flavor in their music. I have searched but have been unable to find something that sounds right. Of course, I have looked at Irish Hymn and Ballad in the SX700. Wondering if anyone has something they use that would work.
Thanks in advance,
TOM

Hi Tom,

Here is a link to a song by "Keith and Kristyn Getty" with 3/4 time signature. You are probably looking for suitable styles for such songs:

Have you already tried the following PSR-SX700 3/4 Preset Styles:
- PopWaltz (Dance)
- GospelSisters (R&B)
- SouthernGospel (R&B)
- GuitarSerenade (Movie&Show)

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris

Hi Tom

There seems to be a lack of 3/4 ballad or light rock styles, manufacturers seem to think 3/4 must always be a waltz. I use the style MOR WALTZ useful for some Getty music, or ACOUSTIC BALLAD style. If you haven't got the style MOR WALTZ on your keyboard it can be downloaded from this site. I think it was originally a style from the CVP Piano series.

The example above definitely is not 3/4 and I listened briefly to a few other songs by them and only one was 3/4. Not saying there wouldn't be others.
When an individual arrangement has been done, it's going to be almost impossible to duplicate closely with a style short of making a highly customised style. But the ones I listened to all seemed pretty simple, and I would have thought  not to hard to find a generic fairly basic style, play some fills and riffs over it to get a decent accompaniment.
It's not as necessary as some think to try to duplicate closely. Get the tempo right, keep the style basic, add the lyrics and vocal and it's usually close enough.  You want a bit of your own in it anyway.
