Can anyone advise me which is the best way to connect my Genos to Audacity to get the best quality sound
I am using a Behringer UMC22 and connecting via the headphone socket in the Genos
Would I get a better sound if I invested in a different DWC and connected in a different way??

Chesterkins,

Here is a link that breaks it down and explains how to do what you want.

Hi chesterkins,

Although the Behringer UMC22 audio interface has two channels, it is not a true stereo interface. It has a combo input for a microphone (XLR) or a mono line signal (6.3 mm jack) and also a 6.3mm mono jack input for connecting an instrument such as a guitar or bass.

A keyboard should always be connected in STEREO. I recommend you to use a slightly larger / higher quality audio interface that has two identical jack line inputs (which can then be used as a STEREO input).

On the Genos, you should normally use the Line Out Main Sockets to connect to an audio interface, not the headphones output. If you use the latter (e.g. because you need the line out main sockets for something else), you need a so-called "insert" cable (6.3 mm TRS stereo jack plug to 2 * 6.3 mm TS mono jack plug).

By the way, to connect the line out main sockets with a stereo audio interface, you must use mono jack cables (TS to TS), i.e. NO balanced cables (TRS to TRS).

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

I know this topic is OLD. I am trying to say that Yamaha simply refuse to add Audio Interface to high end keyboard such as Tyros3/4/5 and Genos, SX700, SX900. And the cheaper one like SX600 has built in audio interface !!!
