I have Style A with a 12-bar intro. I want to copy the last 4 bars of it to replace a 4-bar intro in Style B.

How would I do this?

Thanks,
Fred

I can't think of a way to do this on the keyboard. You can edit the style intro, by deleting the first 8 bars but it would still be a 12 bar intro and if you change it to 4 bars it would give you the first 4 bars not the last 4 bars. But you probably know this, and it's why you are asking the question.
Maybe external software like Style Magic? Could someone who has Style Magic try and see if it can be done.

Hello Fred,
Please, take a look in this video:

-I think, there's answer for you at about 6th minute of video (but is worth watching it completely).

That's neat, it does look like it can be done, albeit track by track. I had never delved this deep into style assembly.

Could I do it using MixMaster?

Here's my progress so far.

1. I've successfully copied the intro from Style A to Style B

2. If I try to use Style Assembly to copy bars 10-13 to bar 1, it lets me copy only Rhythm1 and Rhythm2. All other style parts have the Execute button greyed out.

3. I tried MixMaster, and got it to delete the first 9 bars of the Intro. But when I play it on the keyboard, I get 9 bars of silence followed by the 4 bars I want. So there must be a setting (in the CASM?) that specifies the pattern length of the intro, but I can't find it.

So, the questions are:
-- Is there a way to Bar Copy all style parts, not just Rhy1 and Rhy2
-- In MixMaster, where do I change the pattern length of a style part?

Thanks for your help so far,
Fred

Hi Fred,

You can do that in the keyboard in the following way.
In Style A, copy the INTRO bars 8-12 to Destitnation 1. Do the same on all channels. (Style Creator > Channel Edit > Bar Copy).
In Style B, set the INTRO to last 4 bars. (Style Creator > Basic > Pattern Length).
Use the Assembly function to copy the INTRO from Style A to Style B.

I tried that, but I can bar copy only Rhy1 and Rhy2 channels. When I try any other channel, the Execute button is greyed out.

I did get it working with MixMaster, though. In addition to deleting the unwanted 9 bars, I had to move up the timing of the rest of the style by 9 bars. I should have seen that at the time, but old age is creeping up on me.

Fred
