Hi I don't own the Genos speakers , but is it possible you may have moved the Balance control ?

Steven, try switching the left speaker for the right one, as a rule out to see if it's the speaker or the left side of the audio output of the Genos.
If the right speaker works, it could be the left speaker itself. If it doesn't work, then there's something amiss with the left channel of the Genos.

Steven,

Hi Steven,

Please unplug the 8-pin cable from the Genos and the subwoofer and check the two plugs. Possibly one of the 8 pins is bent. You could also plug the cable in the other way around, as the plug that was previously connected to the Genos is now plugged into the subwoofer.

If I understand you correctly, you have already exchanged the short cables (to the satellite speakers). If that were the cause, the error would "wander" (i.e. from left to right), since both speakers work, as you wrote .

I would also turn the volume control on the back of the subwoofer all the way up and down several times to rule out that this stereo potentiometer has misfires.

Finally, I recommend checking the headphone output and the line outputs to see if the left channel is missing here too. If everything fits here, I would next measure the 8-pin cable electrically (the 8 pins of the two connectors must have 1:1 continuity). Perhaps you can borrow such a cable from a friend or your local music store to test it with another cable.

It also couldn't hurt if the main out signal is output correctly at the 8-pin socket of the Genos:

Pin 1 = Main Out Left
Pin 2 = ground
Pin 6 = Main Out Right

If the error persists, the left amplifier channel in the subwoofer may be defective, or a connector on the internal ribbon cable connecting the OSPR board (where the Genos 8-pin connector sits) is loose, or the left channel of the OP amp in the Genos (on the DM board) that feeds the 8-pin output is defective.

Finally there is an internal cable from the mentioned OSPR board to the OSPL board, on which the jack for the left satellite speaker is located. There may be a bad contact on one of the two connectors. I hope that the error can be fixed soon. If you need technical details about the Genos (e.g. the pin assignment of the 8-pin socket or other circuit details), you are welcome to contact me via PM (personal message).

Best regards,
Chris

Hi all .
Thank you for being responding , where is the 8 pins connector to replace i want to buy a new one . Guitar center ?  I will try all this advised tonight when I get home .
Thank you
Steven,

I have this problem sometimes, here it is the cable going into the Genos that is the trouble. It is not broken or bent, but can loosen, so check that it is sitting properly.

I find it sad that a cable/plug that pretty much sits in place for years can fail. It can't be very well built. I use lots of cables in my live playing. I generally get 10-15 years out of them, and they're being connected, disconnected, trodden upon, and other abuses dozens of times per year.

This does not look good for Yamaha. Perhaps the people who designed these cables also designed the outer case of the Genos - poorly :o.
