Looking into the datalist from the Genos on page 104.

Those are all the XG parameters that can be edited per MIDI channel.  Remember, Yamaha uses the term Multi Part instead of MIDI channel, because many of their sound modules have duel MIDI ports giving the user 32 Parts (on 2 different MIDI buses).  I think this originated with the MU series of sound modules that were much like Roland's Sound Canvas.

These can all be edited by sy*** and some with Continuous Controllers (real-time).

Hi Etienne,

On the page linked below you will find all the important information on the subject of "XG Multi Parts". Please first click on the links "Part Setup" and "Drum Setup 1 + 2" and first read the chapter "1. Introduction" on each of these pages. This will probably already answer your question:

Basically, the 16 XG Multi Parts are assigned to MIDI channels 1 ... 16 by default, but you could also assign several Multi Parts to one channel at the same time if desired. In addition, these 16 Parts can either play instruments in "Normal/Voice mode" or drum kits in modes "Drum Setup 1", "Drum Setup 2" or "Drum".

It is always fascinating to discover the variety of possibilities Yamaha XG programming offers. :)

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

Thanks Joe and Chris for the replies.
I will read the explanation that Chris pointed to.
