Hi

So after playing Yamaha PSR27 circa 30yrs back, I bought myself used Yamaha PSR E343 (I am primarily a guitar player) - and this is fun, playing Lambada again without learning a bit ;-)

But I am struggling connecting it to the computer (Windows 10)

When I have no drivers installed, my PSR E343 shows up in Device Manager (Windows 10) as "Digital Keyboard" with Driver Provider as Microsoft and Digital Signature by Microsoft.

When I install USB-MIDI Driver V3.1.4, PSR E343 shows up in Device Manager (Windows 10) as "Yamaha USB-MIDI Driver (WDM)" with Driver Provider as Yamaha, Driver Date as 2015-07-21, Driver Version as 3.1.4.0 and Digital Signature by Yamaha.

When I go to Reaper (DAW) an look for MIDI devices there is NO "Yamaha USB-MIDI Driver (WDM)" but there IS "Digital Keyboard - however when I insert virtual instrument on an armed track I cannot hear any midi signal coming to Reaper.

Second question is: can my Yamaha PSR E343 be used to record audio over USB? Or is the USB just for transmitting the MIDI signals?

And next question, can I download additional styles (like other tango style) to my PSR E343?

Thank you.

Hi,

The answer to your second question is unfortunately « no ». In order to have the USB port also to transmit the audio signal, you'd need to upgrade to the PSR E363 or E373.

As for your third question, the E343 can accommodate one additional style, that you would have to upload from your computer to style no 137.

Past keyboards: PSR E313, PSR E413, PSR E433, PSR S550, DGX 640, upright piano.
Now: DGX 650, Casio CT-X800.

You could use an audio interface with your existing keyboard

Hi pc131,

You got the answers to questions 2 and 3. The answer to the question of how to connect Reaper to PSR is in these pictures. (pictures 1 and 2)
And as I replied below the video on my channel, install Asio Driver and select it in Reaper. (picture 3)

Thanks casiokid. I guesses so, that I could use Headphones output on E343 and connect to to audio interface.

Hi,

You must install Yamaha Musicsoft Downloader on a computer running Windows and connect your keyboard to your computer using an USB printer cable. Here is the  link to Yamaha Musicsoft Downloader:

https://europe.yamaha.com/en/support/updates/msd_win_kbd.html

Here is a link to the owner's manual of the PSR E343:

https://europe.yamaha.com/en/products/musical_instruments/keyboards/portable_keyboards/psr-e343/downloads.html

Page 36 explains the procedure.
