Arranging a MIDI song-Baffled

I made two recordings of a song; there are good bits in each. I wish to cut the good bits and combine them into a third MIDI song file. I can't work out how to arrange this on a Genos. There are cut and paste functions on the Step Edit section of an event list. When used they only work within the same event list. I'm baffled. Any ideas, please.

Software like Mix Master ( free ) would help you.

Unfortunately, you cannot carry out this kind of MIDI file surgery on the keyboard itself. You will need external software.

As has been stated, to solve your existing problem, you need external software.

In the future, rather than make two midi recordings, you should modify the first one using the facilities available on the keyboard, like punch in/punch out.

Thank you for the replies. Part of my bafflement was that Cut and Paste are generally seen on computer programs and I'd learnt recently that the Genos was based on Linux, which I understand to be an Operating System for COMPUTERS!

Development teams always have to make decisions about what to include in the product, balancing cost and complexity against user demand.

It's true that if they had wanted to, Yamaha could have included the feature to cut and paste measures between tracks on the MIDI song creator.

But they didn't.

Add it to the Genos 2 wish list thread if you want to suggest it!
