SX600 - NO -Mp3 ¿Por qué?

The SX600 is a great improvement from the previous S670. new sounds, new functions, color screen.
the only complaint I have is, because yamaha forgot to integrate the Mp3 player (if the recorder was really not possible) in this advanced keyboard ?. would
useful if this feature is added in a future update. just my thoughts.  Cheers. Hans

what I meant to say is that Yamaha at the very least could have added a good Mp3 audio player to the SX600. just as they did with the S770 / 775 or the S970 / 975.

Had they done that, it would have increased the cost, and priced some people out of the market.

If you need MP3 capability, buy at least a 700 series keyboard.

Hi Fred, quite the opposite. Many people would benefit from the Mp3 player, since being a compressed format it is easy to share with friends, and you can have hundreds of them on a USB memory. a good reference to what I just said is the Korg Pa300, the smallest keyboard in the series. on the other hand I am simply transmitting the concerns of fellow keyboardist musicians who thought of buying the SX600.
For my part, I have already had my SX900 for a year, and I am very happy with it.
So Yamaha should pay attention to this detail in the SX600, since many people would think about it more than once before making the decision to buy. Greetings. Hans

Hi Hans,

I don't think that an MP3 recording function is a "must have" (on any keyboard). When you are recording directly to MP3 format you cannot restore the original, uncompressed sound quality. So I would record always in wav format first. In a second step, you can convert the wav file(s) into MP3 format (on the computer) very quickly. Converting is also possible in batch mode, if needed.

The ability to play MP3 files, on the other hand, would be desirable for the SX600 in my opinion. But this is not really a problem either, because storage space (on USB sticks, hard drives or SSDs) is currently cheaper than ever before. A stereo wav file requires 10 MB per minute and an MP3 file (at a usable bit rate of 192 kbps and upwards) around 3 MB per minute. Given the size of the USB sticks available today, in my opinion it is no problem to save everything in wav format. I don't think that's a major problem, since the MP3s are usually first on the computer anyway. So you can also quickly convert your existing MP3 files into wav format to can play it on the SX600.


P.S.
For me, the lack of a touch display is the knockout criterion for the SX600. For this very reason, I would never buy an SX600. I also can't understand why Yamaha used the S670 case for the SX600 as well. So I generally recommend at least an SX700.

Also the quality loss of mp3 counts
Well i can live without a touchscreen (its not that hard without) on the sx 600 and can find the configuration i want
Its only the playlist operation is yet not clear for me
The more easy control of sx 700 is a strong point and more of course 
Its 400 Euro cheaper sx600  then sx 700 and buying a new one gives a significant less value after some years.
So i decided to wait for the "next"sx700 to come and meanwhile trying to learn playing the keyboard with styles
Making not really a great progress with this and some studymaterial.

you are quite right about the touch screen, and the box that the SX600 is assembled in, considering that it is NOT a cheap keyboard.
Yamaha could have followed the same box model as the higher models.
Regarding Mp3 we have a small drawback and that is that there are many friends and fellow musicians, who are very good singers but are not good keyboard players, and they generally use these keyboards to put karaokes or Mp3 recordings of original songs, and sing about they. that is why I insist on the lack of the Mp3 player in the SX600.
Korg already has it in the Pa300 which is the smallest model in the series, and which also includes a 5-inch touch screen.

No singing for the youngster with a psr sx600 then.

Surely all Yamaha is doing is to say if you want a lower cost keyboard you are going to sacrifice some functionality. You want more functionality you have to buy a more expensive keyboard. Seems very reasonable.
