For my Genos, i am considering to purchase a headset microphone. My current selection is either the Shure WH20 or the Shure SM35-xlr.
Does anybody have any experience in one of them in connection with singing and the Genos?
Also I wonder if the Shure SM35-xlr impedance is not too high for the Genos?

ps....any recommended settings to share are also most welcome

thanks for the help

I have the one with the xlr cable. Very satisfied. But the cable is very short, so I have to use an extension cable to get elbow room.

Hi Wil5560,

the Shure WH20 is a Dynamic microphone (no Phantom Power is needed). Its output impedance is about 200 ohms (150 ohms rated).

The Shure SM35 is a Condenser microphone (48V Phantom Power is needed). The output impedance of the (included) Phantom Power adapter (miniXLR to XLR) is about 100 ohms.

Of course, both models can be used on a standard balanced XLR Mic Input like the one on Genos. (With the SM35, of course, Phantom Power must be switched on on the Genos.)

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

Hi Chris - Toril,

thanks a lot for your help and reply to my question...So i guess that the SM35 XLR is the better quality / the better choice.

Can you possibly share your setup with this microphone? any tips...?

thanks, Wil

For me, it was the Crown CM-311A, which was designed for Garth Brooks. I had the Pro8-hex and ended up giving it away.

Woops!  I am so sorry.  Gary is right.  I have the mic I mentioned.  I used it for 30 seconds and it has been in the box ever since.  I'll ship it to anyone in U.S.  for $30.  It would be o.k. for speeches and vocals for starter.
The one I meant to praise was:  AKG C520.  It is excellent.
