Great review.
Could someone explain the Revolution Algorthim pack?
Are there just styles or samples as well?
How would they be used?
Thank you

If I understand it correctly, they are styles using they're method of using all audio. I believe they're supposed to contain additional variations based on the chord type you're playing. I'm waiting for an answer back on this.

I see that they have a Fender guitar too. Very intriguing ...  :)
I might get it to see if I can get closer to the Pink Floyed sound.

I knew it was full of all kinds of new audio licks for the backgrounds. I just haven't gotten an answer if they do more varied orchestration with different types of chords and not just the same licks transposed to match the chords.

They are NOT pitch shifted samples and they follow harmonies (all chord and inversions) , of course also bpm change.

I think you misunderstood me. I know they're all performed.

What I'm trying to discern is whether or not they contain more variations than we're used to, based on what we're actually playing. For example, completely different licks for minor chords, Maj7, 9, etc. Or, perhaps even different licks based on knowing what key we're on and triggering different licks for the root, 4th, 5th, 6th, etc.

I like what I hear already and I'll probably buy it even if this isn't the case. But if it is..  8)

I bought the Revolution pack. Not cheap at $300 USD at today's exchange. Overall, it sounds very good although, at my settings, the mixing is off - the guitars are a bit loud and then the style is a bit too loud so you either have to bring it down in volume or increase the volume of the RH voices.

I do not think that completely new licks are played based on the chord selection but it DOES feel like you are playing with a band. Especially the drums are very very good. I got this pack as I was getting a bit bored with the styles built-in and I like the type/genre of the pack styles. I just wish there were a bit more slower styles - ballads etc. Overall, I am quite happy with the purchase. The styles have full 3 intros and 3 endings BTW.

I think Yamaha's current style format is too limited for many variations with only 16 channels to work with.  The limit is 3 variations for 2 Parts of the style, plus just a couple of variations for drum parts. The 16 channel limit and CASM settings determine this limitation.

But I think when the newer keyboards support MIDI 2.0 there will be greater possibilities for all-audio styles and more variations for MIDI styles.
