Hi everyone, I am new to the forum. I have a Genos linked to Cubase via a MIDISPORT 2X2 MIDI interface - I can send and receive MIDI data no problem. I can play a GM MIDI file and it plays fine. But what I want to be able to do is send the voice name with the correct Voice Number Values (eg CFX ConcertGrand is MSB 103, LSB 21 and PC 1). I have set up the MIDI Device and it's there listed as Yamaha Genos and all the voices are there. The problem is Cubase can't "see" it - Cubase sees the MIDISPORT MIDI out not the Genos so the voices (of the Genos) can't be used on the track. Does anyone know how I link the MIDISPORT MIDI out to the Instrument Genos in Cubase? Thanks.

Janus

You don't need a midi interface
Connect Cubase with the usb midi cable you got by your Genos
Install the yamaha midi driver
The driver is multi client usb midi a for song replay usb midi b voor de arranger and keys

Hi M8
Make sure to have Not connected at the input
and Workstaton Genos underneath. hope you know what i mean . In the Inspector
This way will keep you from editing frustrations.
Even then , sometimes, you have to go back to the beginning of track if you get strange anomalies glitches.
You will get there if you keep going at it as I did and you will not look back.
If you get Cubase  Pro , you will not look back. It is 100% in my view.
Be careful in Cubase to not put cheap plugins in . Keep to vst 3.
for Vst , i recommend the Aturia Collection and Korg Collection and Native's FM 8 plu Sampletank and effects.
Sonarworks for headphones and monitors.
All depends on how serious your ambitions are.
For me at 69 , i am willing to learn the lot as i will be a long time gone :D

All the best
John :)
