one chord in one style doesn't play right (I think)

One of my favorite songs is SLOOP JOHN B by the Beach Boys.  A while ago someone posted a link for a style for it.  I downloaded the style and put it on a flash drive.  It plays really well except for one chord.

I play the song in the key of C.

Here are the starting lyrics.

   C
We come on the sloop John B

My grandfather and me
                          G
Around Nassau town we did roam
             C     C7
Drinking all night
           F    Dm
Got into a fight
       C
Well I feel so broke up
G            C
I want to go home

Here's the problem: when I play the D/F/A of the Dminor chord it plays a D major chord  (pretty sure that's what it's playing).
On the screen of my DGX-650 it says Dm but I'm sure it's not playing that chord.

Here's the style: Guets are not allowed to view links. In order to access the links, please Register or Login

So here's what I'd like to know:
1- Am I crazy or that really happening?
2- How could just one chord in a style not play properly?
3- Can someone who knows how to manipulate and arrange style fix it so that when I play that Dm chord it actually plays that chord?

thanks

Does it only happens with the Dm chord or also with any other minor chord  (Am, Em ...)?
Does it happen in every Main (A,B,C and D)

Quick examination of the style learns me that :
Only channels 9 ... 16 are used.
Channels 1 ... 8 are not used.
Yamaha styles often (mostly) uses the channels 1 ... 8 as 'addons' for channels 9 ... 16, just to be able to play Minor chords (or other specific chords) more correctly. All this is defined in the CASM of the style.

Channel 16 (Phrase 2) in Main B,C and D has CMAj as Root chord in the CASM while other channels and parts are all in CMAJ7.
This could be correct, it is only what I constat in the style data.

Etienne

Thanks for your input.

Playing that song the only chord which does not sound correct to me is the D minor one.  Otherwise the style is excellent for that song on my instrument.

Start the style. Play C chord, then change it to Cmin. Do you clearly hear a change and a Cmin chord shows in the screen. If so then the style seems ok. So maybe really is playing a Dmin but what is wrong is that chord sounds wrong to your ear. Try playing Fmin instead. That's the chord I would probably play at that point in that song.

Do any minor chords (not just Dm used in the song) sound right if you play them?

It may be that the style doesn't like minor chords. Some styles need the alternative 1-8 channels set up to handle minor chords well, depending on the patterns programmed into the parts.

In answer to the question as to whether any minor chords play properly:  they don't.

I tried a Cminor,  Dminor and Eminor chord and they all apparently played the major chord.

That's crazy stuff.  Isn't it?

Not crazy. Just a good example of how difficult it is to create good styles.

Nothing crazy about.
It's a bad created style, that only plays well with major chords, and not with minor chords.

The problem is in NTT settings. For both, the Chord is set to Bypass.
It is repaired by putting it on a Chord. You can see more about this in this video.

Download the edited Style and just delete the .txt extension.

I finally got a chance to download the style and I deleted the .txt extension.
Unfortunately when I went to try it out the DGX-650 reported a data error.
Usually that's been when the style is too large but the 43 KB size is well within the parameters my instruments can use.  It just can't handle styles >70 or so KB.

I thank you for working on this but for me it's not something that plays.

Change the extension to .sty and see if that helps :)

I downloaded and just tried it.  Call me crazy (you wouldn't be the first) but while it plays I still don't hear the minor chords as playing properly.   Testing out the minor chords they all seem to play as major chords.

I do thank you again for your efforts.
