I wander if we can use a MIDI footpedal unit to control stuff on the SX900, like you can on Genos?

Well, yes and no.

Yes (in theory) you can use a MIDI footpedal to controll things on SX900 but not as many things as you can control on Genos.
SX900 for instance, does NOT support MFC 010 foot controller and compatible devices.

Have a look a the data list manual to see what is available on SX900 for control by MIDI.
I found it not enough to actually go for a MIDI footcontroller on SX900 (which I do use on Genos)

Check - Reference manual on page 111
Well worth checking out, you can do a lot with pedals
There is about 80 settings, more than I would ever want or need.
You can connect 2 pedals.
All setting are saved to a registration
you can change the setting to what ever you like and save a different setting to each of the 8 registration buttons

The SX900 has turned out to be an excellent gigging keyboard.

The difference is that something like the MFC10 can be configured to send specified note values (e.g. A4) for each button/pedal on a specified MIDI channel, and Tyros/Genos can be set up to do something when it receives that note value on the same MIDI channel. In that way you can effectively have more than 3 pedals connected.

It seems the SX does not have this option on the MIDI setup page, which suggests it won't work with MFC10.
