I've read the official Yamaha USB document on recommended USB pen drives, the largest being 32 GB.

I want to ask fellow Genos owners, what is the maximum size of a reliable working USB flash drive and what brand/model do you have ??

Thanks

EileenL

I personally use a 64Gb USB and fit it under my keyboard as I find that plenty big enough for my use but you can go larger if you want to.

I also use a 64 GB USB 3.0 stick under the keyboard, without any problem.

Thanks for your input, I'm currently using a 64GB stick.
Does anyone use 128 GB or 256 GB stick ??
If so, what brand and model?

I have a lot of MP3+CDG Karaoke ( 100 GB and growing...) I want to load on stick ......

I use a Kingston Data Traveler DT50 with 128GB, since I'v got the Genos nearly 2 years ago.

It is no so long, so it fits into the top USB Port without rising over the surface. It sould also fit in the bottom port.

The stick has USB3, which is not needed by Genos (only USB2), but speeds up quite a bit when connected to your computer.

I am using verbatim 256 Gb and this work good. I could use a 1 tb Usb stick but i had some bugs and freeze and don't use it anymore.

Thanks for your replies, I will be looking for both the DT50 128 GB and the Verbatim 128 GB. Hope to find some good prices in Thailand where I currently live.

When/if I receive the items, I will let the community know the results...

Thanks

Hi fjuppe,

by the way:

If a new USB stick is already formatted with "FAT32" file system, you can directly use it with the Keyboard, of course.

BUT to be "on the safe side", it is recommended to re-format a new stick on the Keyboard first, before use.

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

I use a 128Gb USB sandisk that attaches it permanently on the USB port under the keyboard. It fully receives.

Hi fjuppe
I ordered 2 'SanDisk' from Lazada and they turned out to be copies.
Can't send them back after opening the package.
Many copies around Bangkok, MBK and Panthip

Do they have many Genos in Thailand?

I don't really know, I moved here last year and bought a PSR-S970. BAck in Sweden I had been playing for many years with Tyros 1-5. I felt the -970 was a little to less for me coming from Tyros 5.

I looked in internet sites here and found 2 sources for the Genos, One at 250.000 THB and one at 200.000 THB ( 8.300 US$ resp 6.600 US$). Not fitting my budget. So, I turned to Thomann in Germany where I've previously bought some of the Tyros and other equipment. The had a Genos in B-Stock @ EUR 3.100 which I ordered to Thailand (freight costs only EUR 50). BUT....Thomann replied back that they were not allowed (from Yamaha) to sell to Thailand. (And I could understand the reason why with the sky high price they charging here). The solution was that I bought the Genos and shipped to a friend in Sweden (free delivery) and he shipped the package (including wooden case) to Thailand in a container for less than 100 US$. No Tax or Duty paid here...

So I'm now playing my Genos happily for a total of 3.500 US$

With the 1.41 update it's a wonderful keyboard....

Awaiting 2x 128 GB Flash discs from Lazada to test.

Do don't forget the bug update coming on the 15th of this month where lots will be added to Genos.
