I'mlooking at getting stylemagic so I can get the ots to work the way I want it to.  I d.led the demo and it looks like it will do the things I'm trying to do.

#1. convert sf2 to sf1 for my 3000.  How does it handle the revo drums and audio styles on the new kb's?

#2  want to convert sf2 styles to sf1 styes that will work on my 3000. It looks like it will do this.  How effective is it?

#3 Adding and/or modifying OTS on preset and user styles.

StyleMagic is excellent and does many things but editing OTS is best and easiest on keyboard

By the way the 3000 is an excellent keyboard,
I have one in my studio right next to a S975, S950 and S910
Soudwise not a big difference, the 3000 has warmer sounds
I could gig with it any day.

Thank you for confirming an opinion I have had for some time.    I do believe that I should be able to make y 3000 sound as boss as I'm capable of doing.  I just need to learn how to use the features it has.  I have read several times that few performers use more than 20% of their kb's capabilities.  So.... if I can learn and use 10% more it should bring me on par with those of you who have the latest and best.

You say editing OTS is best and easiest on the keyboard.  I guess I just need to buckle down and learn how to do it & save my $ for a while.  I have printed out the instructions on styles and OTS from the lessons section.
now I just need to sit down and go through them.

#1: The revo drums are selected just like other drum kits, so if you want to convert Genos styles to 3000 styles you will have to try different drum kits to see what will work.  It's possible you will have to replace the drum part using Style Creator Assembly on the keyboard.

#2: Yes you can convert SFF2 to SFF1 and vice versa very easily

#3: The only thing you can do with editing OTS in StyleMagic is select a new substitute Voice for your PSR3000.

The advantage of using StyleMagic for converting Genos styles is that if you load the Genos Voice file first and make a note of what sounds are assigned to the style parts and Left Voice and R1 / R2... (make a note of it) then load the 3000 Voice file and find substitutes for the same type (category) of Voice that was used for the Genos.

Joe, looking at the demo, it appears that one is able to not only select a new voice for the OTS but also adviser the volume of that voice.

Yes that's true... I wish we could do a whole lot more in editing the OTS in StyleMagic.  I think it is possible from the list view widow below the sliders, but it's not so easy as editing on your keyboard once you have changed the OTS Voices.  That's why I suggested loading the Genos Voice file first so you know what KIND of voice is assigned for the Left, R1 and R2.

Load the Genos Voice file (you will then have to quit the program and boot it again) Then load the Genos style so you can see what Genos Voices are used in the style and OTS.  Then select the PSR3000 Voice file and quit the program again.  After you boot the program a second time, load the same Genos style and assign the closest Voices you can find on the 3000.  Chances are you won't find many replacement Voices on the 3000.  It's too old of a keyboard. The newer keyboard styles use Voices that don't exist on the older keyboards.

Thanks for the responce Joe !!! I got it now what you mean by "loading the Genos voice file" is when you select the instrument !!!
I dont have a PSR-3000 i got a SX700 . So i load SX700 as my instrument .
The thing is that when i load a style in stylemagic and i don't know from witch instrument is then i cant find the sounds ...of course i can change sounds but when i open the mixer and choose SInt the i see only piano for sounds when i change to lets say variation 1 then i can see some souns but they dont much with my SX700 ... what can i do to find witch instrument is form the style when i dont know so i can see the sounds of the part to try find tha same on my SX700 ???

Thanks alot Spiros !!!!

PS. Where is this "SPELL Check " use to be in the forun ??? Sory about my english don't use translator ....

Joe H

Don't choose SInt.  Select any other Section.  The SInt doesn't always have the correct Voice messages. They are often at the beginning of each Section.

Thanks for the response Joe !!!
I'll ask one more thing.
Do you know how to identify the original keyboard a style made for ??? and how you can do that if you don't know form witch keyboard the style came from ???

Thanks alot Spiros !!!!

Joe H

This question has been asked before.  I don't know the answer but I think the answer is NO. There is no way of knowing what keyboard the style came from since the same styles are in many of the various keyboard models.
