Hi all
I have a Genos and viscount legend b-3 clone.
I find the organs completely useless with the exception of a few presets,
The vibrato is terrible. I recently purchased the module for the viscount legend, thru the Genos
I now have a full blown B-3 at my disposal, it is unbelievable.

Most organ voices on Genos can be edited also the rotary parts can be edited to your own liking.

You just can not compare awm2 organ sounds with a high class organ emulation. Like you legen b3 clone, or the vb3 inside my Gemini..    there will allways be a small difference between a dedicated engine and a general synth engine like awm of Yamaha..

The other way around too... try making your b3 sound like a trumpet or Sax, or even like a piano...

Personally, there are quite some nice organ sounds in the Genos.. the b3 is okay.. not so great... but the Wersi sound euro organ, i do really like...   


I think for most people the b3 sounds in the Genos perform good enough to make a convincing performance..

Yes that is the module. Just to clear thinks up I love my Genos all the sounds are phenomenal .
Like I said there are 2-3 really nice organ sounds on the Genos.
I know a lot of people complain about the acoustic pianos,
I don't use them but the electric pianos are also great.
I particularly like the brass and woodwinds. I am knocking the Genos but I think the addition of
if the b-3 clone makes the Genos unbeatable.

Hi km...some members have found that using an external effects unit like a Lester K for the rotary sounds, really cleans things up. Agreed that the organs are generally pretty good but extremely limited when it comes to the rotary speaker.

Your the guy that got me thinking about a Lester K,
wow could it make that much of a difference. That's
how I feel about this module. You can go in and edit and tweek
everything.
I will always use the click organ on the Genos, but if you want and authentic
B-3 at your fingertips this is the real deal
Hope I have not offended anyone but now I am set and have the best of both worlds

I choose the Lester K  because its decent price , i know the ventilator and Hammond modules could be better sounding .
The reason i bought the LK is for the moments i play with a band with the Genos , it gives a more "rocking" sound than the standard rotary effects.
Later i bought a Nord D5 , and this ( Hammond/drawbar) sounds again much better than on the genos with the LK unit.
But after all , a real Hammond purist will never say that a not Hammond will sound like the "Real thing",and of course youre playing technics

Not at all! I almost did what you just did. In fact, I almost added a second tier to my rack and was ready to choose between the Crumar Mojo 61 and a Hammond XK keyboard to add to my setup.

Seeing the module you got with the drawbars has got me thinking again though.

In the meantime, the Lester K really does a great job with the built-in drawbars on the Genos. The amp simulator and Leslie simulator together is a winner for just around $200 US.

Thank you for sharing! I hadn't seen this before. Mostly I didn't hear anything I wasn't able to get on the Genos alone so far. For me, nearly $90 US is a lot for registration pack of this sort.

I did learn one sweet little trick from their video though! Put your main organ on A and just the percussion on B and then you can add percussion at any time by just bringing in B regardless of what screen you may be on.

You could also set up your 3rd harmonic percussion on B and 2nd harmonic on C.

Thanks for posting this tip! Even if folks don't set up their own layers, Yamaha uses this technique in some of their OTS programming. If someone sees an organ flutes voice in both RIGHT 1 and 2, they should check out the programming (layering) to see what Yamaha had in mind.

BTW, this same trick could be used to bring in additional drawbars over an existing set of bars. I sometimes build on 888000000 and add in more bars for color. This method avoids slider touch (value catch) issues and makes bringing more bars reliable without nasty volume jumps.
