I've looked around and all the pgms I've found seen to work on one drum KITS (each kit apparently limited to 16 instruments) .

Unable to find one that allows the placement of the entire MIDI drum set.

Am I making sense?    Does such a tool exist??

Boowho??

Hi boowho.
my little brain doesn't make much sense of what you are asking.
Give us the name of "all the pgms I've found"
that will help me immensely
thanks,
Mike.

does this help you at all?

Can you give me all the names of the programs you have tried.
That may help me to help you,
thanks,
Mike.

Here's one:   Hydrogen

boowho,

You are not being very clear.  What keyboard do you have? If it supports expansion packs you can buy packs with new drum kits.  If your keyboard is supported by the YEM software, you can create your own drum kit.

If you want to an editor for existing drum kits, the take a look at StyleMagic.   http://www.midisoft.pl/en/

I can see now that if you are trying to use a program like Hydrogen you are wasting your time. I tried it a while ago and it wasn't very useful for me, being still in BETA FORMAT.(see details under)

Hydrogen 1.0.0-beta1 released
Mar 18, 2018

The first beta release of Hydrogen 1.0.0-beta1 is now available. It includes the following features:
    QT5 support
    Midi feedback
    OSC support (incl. feedback)
    Playback track
    Menu redesign
    Note probability property
    Velocity automation
    Full screen mode
    New default kit: GMRockKit

I would recommend that you look at Cubase. I think it is the best for what you want to do.

see this tut.
