Changing the selected Style using Cubase : is it possible?

Hello.
I know that it is possible to run the arranger module of Genos using an external Sequencer (Cubase for instance).
All we need is a MIDI track of the sequencer with
- either a Sy*** message, as explained in Genos Data List page 111
- or a CC# (Controller Change) or a Note on/off message on a specific MIDI channel, as explained in Genos Reference Manual page 138

I wonder if it is also possible to send some MIDI information that changes the Style selection, for example from Disco to Pop.
For a voice it is easy : PC# (Program Change) according to the list of voices in Genos Data List.
But for a Style....?
Best regards,
Darius

I think it is, at least I believe it's possible on the PSR-S and Tyros models. Finding the message in the Data List is one thing. The harder part might be figuring out which values correspond to which styles. What you could try is to record a song on the keyboard using a style, then look at the MIDI messages in Mix Master to see what values are used in the Sy*** message.

Hi Darius,

MixMaster "knows" all MIDI commands to control ACMP (accompaniment) on Yamaha Keyboards like Genos, Tyros1-5 and PSR-S models.

To test it, open MixMaster and set the Instrument to Genos (in the top right corner), first.

Then load a MIDI file and click "List" button to open the "ListView" window. Now click "Insert PSR ControlCmd" --->"Acmp Style" and you can choose the desired Genos Preset Style.

In the same way you can also insert commands to change the Style section, the tempo and the chords within the MIDI file.

Best regards.
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

Hi Darius,
you can use XGWorks to change Style. First you need open Style in the MixMaster and then switch it to XGWorks (GoTo) and you will not lose important CASM data. Look at my video.
https://youtu.be/GBqWNQEIPIY
And edit drum in Style.

You can also use SONAR but there is no option for processing Sy*** data. Cubase can not work this way because there is no Open. There is only an Import File with it.
