Hi Everyone,

I have a fair few sheet music files in pdf format on my pc, which I would like
to display on the T4 if that is possible.

I've had a search in here as well as the manual, to help me on my way, but
could'nt easily find any info.

So, if anyone has the answer and a few minutes to post it here, I would
be extremely grateful......

thanks in advance and best wishes - Jim

Hi Jim,
There is a wealth of info re your specific subject on this website.
Go to HOME page......click LESSONS tab.......PLAYING........REGISTRATIONS.........REGISTRATION VIDEOS

Fred Smith has compiled an invaluable section re registrations which if you follow through above will take you to a section"Using an iPad with your keyboard"   This video explains all.

I use this Baum Software with my Tyros 5. IMHO it is well worth the money and has has paid me back many times.   Several other systems also exist , including freeware. A search of this website will reveal. However I still prefer The Baum system

Good searching

You would need to convert them to text files but not sure they would be what you want. Easier to use a tablet to house your music and play from there.

Thankyou both for your very quick response.

I rather expected that it would be 'a task too far', so
am not surprised with your replies although I shall
certainly take a look at Fred Smith's video this evening.

I was hoping to keep away from a tablet, laptop/whatever
on the keyboard, but, hey, it's not the end of the world...

Whilst I have your attention, do you know if there is a
list of Yamaha/Tyros file types anywhere? I've managed
to collect so much stuff, mainly downloads, over the
past few years and I'm trying to tidy up the offending
folders but I have got some strange file types that I'm
not sure whether to delete them or not.

Once again, thanks for your help and best wishes - Jim

Then you need to tell us specifically what you want to do.

If you just want to use the PC for sheet music, then prop it up on a stand somewhere, and use File Explorer to find and display your PDFs.

But if you want the keyboard to load the PDF for you, that's a different kettle of fish.

So let us know what it is you want to do.

Cheers,
Fred

Hi Fred,

Thankyou for replying.

All it is, is that I was trying to tidy up lots of
scrappy folders, one of which is a pdf sheet music
collection.
For the most part, I don't
have a problem printing them out and putting them
on the music stand of the T4, but I just
wondered if it were possible to display them on the
T4 screen similar to scores, lyrics etc without
too much effort.

Thanks again, regards - Jim

On the "without too much effort", the answer is no.

You would have to create midi files for each of your songs to display the score. So it can be done, but would take a lot of effort.

Thanks Fred,

Now I know it's something I don't have to worry about any more......hahaha

Printing a few here and there is no problem.

I'm thinking of building a new 'full width' music stand for
the T4 which would include holding the two small speakers at either end
as well as some sort of illumination for the sheet music
as well as the T4 itself.

If I ever get the time to do it, I might then think of including
a reasonable size TV screen which I could use for the PC
display as well as the T4 display........one day huh......

thanks again Fred, much appreciated.....best wishes - Jim

I use MobileSheets Pro, which is now available for both Android and Windows 10.

I use an old "square" 17" monitor turned on its side for displaying my PDF music from within MobileSheets Pro. I have it selecting the required PDF file and Registration, as well as scrolling the music. I have found it to be simply brilliant!

When away from home, I use my 13.5" Microsoft Surface Book 2 in tablet mode, which is very legible too. The PDFs in both cases are shown in portrait mode.....

Hi John,

Thanks for the reply. That sounds really convenient and a good
answer to the problem,.... Have you built a separate stand for the
screen or managed to support it from the Tyros music stand
fixtures ?....I was wondering how much weight they would carry....

I shall look into that as soon as I get some time,

Meanwhile, greetings, thanks and regards from Jim in chilly Peterborough, England...

Hi Jim,

The Tyro music stand is OK for my Microsoft Surface Book 2 screen in Tablet Mode, but I think a separate robust stand is the way to go, particularly if you or your band members tend to stomp around a bit!

At home, I have the monitor on a separate wooden "bench" that I made....

Keep warm - it's going to be 27 degrees here today (again), and the endless blue sky is boring ;-)

Hi John,

Thanks again, understood and appreciated.

So sorry to hear you are bored with the blue skies and high temperature,

We English , are a hardy race and much more enjoy the damp, grey,
cold, wet, windy flooding of  autumn and winter which is just starting
and will continue until May or so....

So enjoy your summer whilst we dig out are cardigans...

Thanks again John,,,best wishes - Jim

Denn

Hello Jim, I bought a Lenovo 10.5" tablet new $200. Put the tiny 32Gb card into my computer and put ALL my music scripts onto it in PDF format. I have two folders mainly. One is all the songs in alpha order the other is all the song in numeric order according to my music registrations on my T4. I tilt my screen and put a piece of hard plastic between the music rest and the top of the screen. A piece of foam in the form of a cube brings the tablet closer so I don't need and electron microscope to read the text. Now, going out, I only need the tablet and kbd and not a pantechnicon of music books. Try it, you may like it. Regards, Denn.

Hi Denn,

Sorry for not responding earlier, life took over and won , as usual.

I like your idea, simple but covers all the requirements. Somewhere, I've
got an old android tablet so I think that will be my first task to see
if it's still working and then go from there.

Thanks again Denn, food for thought,

Regards - Jim
