Hello everybody,

there is an updated version (V3.11.0) of Producer available.

This release adds support for the new Genos.

As there are no other changes only owners of a Genos need to update to this version.

The program should run on all Windows versions (32bit and 64bit) beginning with Windows XP .

It can be downloaded here:

Special thanks to all testers for their support.

If there are any problems or suggestions please keep me informed.

Regards,
Peter

Hi
It would be possibile to manage user styles instead of the specific style? For  example typing the path of the style into the file system (a pen drive) or inside a loaded expansion?

I suppose that it would not be possible, since I din not find a midi message to load a style from external memory

thanks in advance
Alex

Hi Alex,

it is exactly as you supposed.
There is no (known) way to instruct the keyboard to load a style by name/location.
But you can use user styles if you load the style by your own, before using it with Producer.
In Producer use the "Select on PSR" entry from the style selection list in this case.

Hi Peter,

This is a great piece of software and I use it all the time to create chord files for my cover songs, which I then take over to the keyboard and expand into full midi files with chords and lyrics.

I think the strength of the software is in its support for all Yamaha arranger keyboards and the fact that it can trigger the style changes and variations and fills on the keyboard.

Having said that I do have some comments:

1. It does not support inserting and deleting measures, which can be a problem when you just want to add or remove a measure here and there in the file.
2. I think the layout of the measures and the fact you can only see a few measures on the screen at a time makes it hard to get an overall view of a large section of a song.

I have managed to get around the problems I mention above by using a different piece of software to make the initial midi file. This software does not have good support for the Yamaha arrangers but it does do the song chords and lyrics layout layout quickly and easily.

The program allows me to export the result as a midi file, which I then use in Producer after I strip all the channel data. I don't want to mention the name in this thread but it works a bit like Band-in-a-Box.

Hi Richard,

regarding 1.: Producer allows to configure a midi sequencer program (e.g. XGWorks) to be invoked via the "Tools\Sequencer" menu. In the midi sequencer program then you can add/remove measures, save the file and return to Producer.

regarding 2.: Do you just mean the direction of the song layout, which is horizontal in Producer and vertical in Band-In-A-Box? Or do you request a even more condensed format (e.g. multiple lines containing multiple chords per line), so that the whole song can be viewed withou any scrolling?

Hi Peter,

Yes I do know about the links to other programs.

Below is a screen shot of the other program I use to create the initial midi file. You can see whole sections of the song on screen and I like that.

Still, I use your program all the time to add in the variations and fills and fine tune the lyrics. And it creates an XF chord file for Yamaha keyboards which this other program cannot do.

I manage to get what I want in the end. I guess I just have a wish that everything was in the same software.

Regards,
Richard
