Sennheiser E835 is it any good?

overover is correct. The normal convention is pin 2 is the 'hot' that goes to the 1/4" plug tip.

This Hosa brand cable would be one that would work and as noted in the description, 'The XLR plug is "pin 2" hot (to tip) wired for the most common uses nowadays.'

Diagram 5 shows the connection XLR balanced to 1/4" unbalanced.

Sorry about the typo. It's pin 2, if my memory serves correctly. I sent out my adapter to a guy in the sunny south that purchased by headset mic last week, so I have no way of verifying this.
