How do I attach a file to a personal message?

Feeling very stupid at the moment.  But I'm trying to send a file to someone else on the forum via a personal message, and for the life of me I can't find any way to make that happen.  Can someone point me to what I'm overlooking?

Hi Jamist,
I cannot see an option of uploading a file with a personal message
but you can uploasd the file to a url and share the link.
(like google drive,box etc)
this way
[url]https://drive.google.com/drive/my-drive/example[./url]

(just delete the . (dot) from [./url]
