Couldn't login, the forum didn't recognize my username [SOLVED!]

I've been a member of this forum for several years but I haven't been active recently. When I tried to login, the forum said that my username didn't exist. I had to re-register using the same username.

Not a good user experience.

The same happened to me, I also had to sign in newly, after 20+ years! It does feel strange. But then I found that the site had some techy issues, was down for a while, and sadly a lot of information was lost. Fortunately it's back up again, though they are still getting things settled down here and there.
