Yamaha Expansion Explorer Now Available

The Yamaha Expansion Explorer App is now available from:

It remains to be seen how useful this app is if you already have all your packs loaded.

This demo video shows using a Smart Phone but the instructions say works with Windows. So does that mean I can install the app to my PC?

How do I know what packs are available? Are there any new packs or are these just reworked packs to work with the SX920?

Hi Drake, Yes you can install it on your PC. I did it this morning and connected it to my Genos 2 via WiFi.

Yes, it is available for computers too, but I don't find its usage, not for me.
Definitely there are users which can use it and find stuff. For me it's useless soft.

Hi All,

Installed fine on my Windows 10 PC. Looks interesting I especially like the ability to preview styles directly from within the software. Not clear if there are any additional expansions other than the 31 already installed on my Genos 2 but I doubt it. Will take a closer look over the next few days.

I want to see if this requires the creation of a full installation pack or if you can add single styles on the fly? I suspect it will require the former as I believe I read somewhere that it will format the drive prior to installation (similar to YRM)

UPDATE: I can confirm that it will delete ALL the expansions in the keyboard prior to installing ones you choose via the app. so make sure you have a full backup before using the app. Personally, I prefer to use a full 'transfer mode' from the keyboard to my PC via windows explorer rather than USB stick. - much quicker

Anyone tried this on PSR SX-720/920? Are there any additional expansion packs availible then the 6 expansion packs already pre-installed?
The info text is a bit unclear about that.

"Contents already installed by Yamaha Expansion Manager into the Expansion area of your keyboard, including pre-installed content in PSR-SX920 and SX720, will be removed when installing new content from Yamaha EXPANSION EXPLORER. About pre-installed content in PSR-SX920 and SX720, you will be able to reinstall them through the EXPANSION EXPLORER app, if desired"

Having played the 920 the styles seemed to be largely reworked and renamed
the app seems limited on first glance will delve further into it

Thank you, Yogi. I wasn't aware of this bonus expansion pack, but I'll download it and test it out this weekend.

I have the PSR SX-720 and the pre-installed expansions are Africa, Europe, C-POP HIT, Kolaborasi Nusantaram, Latin America and Middle  East.

Thanks Jugge,

I was able to download the app.

It will take a while however to understand what it does and how to use it.

At first glance, I don't think I can use it, But I will not give up easily; I intend to study this app til I get it down
