Hello everybody this is my first post on this great Forum.

I stumbled onto the PSR tutorial website not so long ago and I have been blow away by all the amazing resources.

I am looking for a program that can identify a song being played. It should be able to give the style name and all of its properties, such as tempo, frequency, bass, and so on an so forth. I need it to identify via a microphone, not a direct link up with the keyboard.

does something like that exist?

Thank you all!

It's not precisely clear what you are asking for?

Are you looking for a program that can analyse and show the style etc from an audio file received via a microphone? If so, I cannot see that ANY such software will ever be available.

The structure of a style comprises too many variables including voices (samples) and drum kits, to mention just a couple. Also styles do not follow a standard 'naming' convention, the style maker will use their own naming system so even two closely sounding styles will likely have completely different names.

If I am correct in that you are referring to an audio file as your source, whilst some software can give you a reasonable breakdown of a chord sequence, what you are asking for is simply not possible.

The program used at this site can give you the Tempo and Key of any song.

Maybe take a look at Yamaha Chord tracker. I think it can suggest a style based on an audio file.

Thank you. Let me be more clear.

Essentially I want a software that will identify and analyze the style and balance.

If it doesn't exist I am looking to pay to develop it.

As for Yogi62's point that it is too complex I understand what you mean, but I imagined that the software would have a preloaded database with the ability to be updated with newer style files as they came out. As I know that many of these music identification apps exists (ex shazam, soundhound), what I am looking for is pretty much the same idea. The difference would be that it would be geared to Yamaha style files and, aside from listing the style file being played, would break down the balance of bass, tempo, frequency, etc.

If anyone has any idea of how to do this, or better yet a programmer who wants the job, please let me know.

thank you again!
