Because of poor hearing + bad tinnitus ( oh, those Emerson , Lake and Palmer and Tangerine Dream gigs in my youth ! ) , the standard volume control on my Yamaha SX600 is insufficient for my needs.

I currently have an instrument cable running to a 40 watt Laney Audiohub amp with a second cable to a Yamaha KS SW100 subwoofer. This works quite well but can I use a "Custom Lynx 6.35 mm. Headphone Splitter cable (with 1. balanced 1/4"male stereo jack input and 2. balanced 1/4" female stereo jack sockets)" to split one of the 2 cables to enable me to still use the subwoofer but to have 2. cables going to  2. separate 40watt Laney Audiohubs ?

This might give me more of a stereo effect although my studio (or bedroom , as it should rightly be called) is quite small. I obviously don't want to overload the keyboard/amps/subwoofer...

hello Trevor,
The solution you suggest will work, but keep in mind that subwoofer only gets signal from one channel -for example from L channel. That is, even if bass guitar is in the center (equal loud on both channels), then you'll have only half of the loudness on that single channel (subwoofer).

Personally, I would try using actual stereo-to-mono adapter (something like this), which I would plug into headphone socket on keyboard.
The problem is, we don't know what's inside such adapter. If L and R channel are simply wired into single (mono) channel, then I would not use it. For proper wiring, L and R channel should be separated by resistors first and then wired into one channel. Something like this:

That is, if I would buy such adapter, then I would first measure it (to make sure there's resistance between L and R channel).

Hi Trevor,

did you think about using high quality headphones instead of amps and speakers?
