Genos 2 Converted Packs

Hi All

It would appear that Yamaha have released 31 packs that have been converted to work with Genos 2.

UPDATE

I'm now not so sure the recent additions on the Exclusive Download is any more than just Yamaha Europe doing some maintenance on the web site. Yesterday the site showed a folder which was called Special Content now it shows a new name Exclusive Downloads. Although the items on the web site show  either yesterday's or today's dates, the actual PPF file computer dates show 21 Feb 24. Although the original files in the Volume 1 & 2 packs with a much earlier date I'm not so sure there is any actual change.

You will need to visit the Yamaha site where you registered your Genos 2, login then tab to My Products then Special Content — Exclusive Downloads.

Thanks for that, I now see the exclusive downloads in the list whereas I did not before but now all new ones downloaded just got to put them in YEM now

that's right, you have to put Packs in YEM and install them in Genos. Watch this video where I explain the process.

I purchased my Genos2 about a month ago here in the US but do not see the Expansion packs in My Products then Special Content — Exclusive Downloads...like they are available for purchases in Europe..
Any ideas as to why ?

Yes, unfortunately only Yamaha Europe offers registered users the option to download Genos1 packs converted to Genos2 directly in their Yamaha user account. I have not yet found out how Yamaha provides customers in the USA and other countries worldwide with information on how to download these packs.

Unfortunately, the new "Exclusive Download" links for registered European Genos2 users are not permanent, but expire after a short time, so there is no point in posting the original links for the 31 packs available so far here.

However, you could first use the packs for Genos2 linked here:

The file date is June 1, 2024.  They seem to all be
the same as the previous ones. I had hoped that
Yamaha would at least update the reverbs to Revelation
and perhaps use some of the new Genos2 voices

Yeah, sorry bp, I wouldn't expect Yamaha to revamp any of the old packs to take full advantage of the G2; because their time would be better spent on making all new content for G2 from the ground up (once they've finished converting all the T5, G1 packs to G2). I say this because some of these packs haven't changed since the *T4* (or T5, G1, depending when the packs were first intruduced); same OTS, etc; only the *new* packs for G1 actually took full advantage of the G1; so I assume the same will be true of the G2; all the old packs will re-use the old reverbs, kits and instrument voices.

You *could* go through and re-voice OTS and use the new reverbs yourself on your own custom versions of all the pack styles, and save them to a USB stick. Yup, it's a lot of work.

But like I said, they did this in the past as well: Eurodance pack, for example, was introduced on the PSRs950, so none of the styles have used newer OTS sounds newer than the s950. Likewise, the Balkan & Turkey pack was introduced on the T4 (or was it T3?) and doesn't use any newer voices for the style or OTS than that; eg no Revo drums, etc.

Also keep in mind, if they designed a pack to mostly use pack sounds, they might even use the lowest common denominator (ie make sure they don't need to reprogram the pack for sx600/sx700; in which case even the sx900 didn't even take full advantage of *its* hardware)
