Instrumentals

Greetings Friends!

Another perfect evening playing some styles on Genos2.  Since discovering that MS-CD styles disk I have never had so many styles that I have deemed "gems". So many of the song styles on that disk are foreign to me, not that I really know that many modern American lyrics, but when I play those styles I just wing it, making up my right hand melody. As I'm winging another unknown song it occurred to me that what I am actually playing are "instrumentals" !!   Why not start out with an instrumental as the final goal?   Who else here likes instrumentals?

I thank you for your recently shared disc which has some real gems on it, and I too enjoy and prefer playing instrumentals.
And I also think that you have just perfectly summed up why so many of us buy and play arranger keyboards.
Whilst I listen to and enjoy most music of all genres, I prefer instrumentals. Although years ago, I was in a school choir, I think singing at my age is not my bag at all, so I just don't do it. The microphone socket never gets used!
But settling in for a couple of hours playing, just using the keyboard, is my idea of real enjoyment.
Just sitting down and playing. Just doodling round the keys, exploring, changing chords, trying new features.
The whole pleasure of having an arranger is surely to play it. It doesn't matter what you play,
Explore, be creative, have fun!
