 Is there a way to set the registration to move from 1 to 2 to 3 etc at acertain bar number?   Or do I have to create a midi file that would do that? So one without any music just registaration change would that work?

Assign your registration changes to a peddle and then just tap it when you want to change it

There is no way to have a registration sequence automatically switch. Best you can do is use a pedal. As you said, the alternative is a midi.

I don't think you can do it with a midi either. You could make a midi instead of using registrations and styles,  but I don't think' you can make a midi that only changes registrations automatically.

I did not know about this - but I suspect not many do!  And I don't think I will ever need to know.
I can't imagine many arranger owners delving this deep into systems.

Thank you for pointing on this video.
As Mike said, not many (incl. myself) will ever use this undocumented feature, but one never knows! This is not the only hidden thing and so I keep wondering: why undocumented?
We can hear too many times "this can not be done on Yamaha", which makes Yamaha kinda inferior -simply because Yamaha doesn't bother to make complete documentation.

A good question. Maybe the author of this video can answer this question? He was product manager for keyboards and digital pianos at Yamaha in Germany in the late 1990s. Even today he probably still makes musical content for Yamaha.

I think it's simply Yamaha's marketing strategy that their arrangers should be easy to use - at least compared to, for example, Korg's arranger keyboards. The SX900/SX700 reference manual has around 130 pages, the Korg PA700 reference manual has over 1000 pages.

Maybe more of a MIDI feature than a keyboard feature. And Yamaha are not going to document everything about MIDI.

I do use the pedal but when trying to use the pedal to change the page and volume control I run out of feet!!

It would be quite easy to have some recorder to change registration at a certain bar in the style!!  But it might not be used by that many!!

You need to prepare your registrations better. With properly set up registrations, you can make all those changes in one pedal press.

A quick note regarding 'undocumented' procedures and why they aren't in the manual.

It's quite possible that, while a maker may know that doing X,Y and Z will perform a particular function, they also know that it may cause a lockup, freeze or loss of data, or cause part of the operating system to be unstable. And therefore it's not put in the manual so people won't try it and then complain when their instrument throws a wobbler.

Some are safe, others not. Some are really intended for service personnel and not end users.

I can go back to the very early 1980s for the first time I came across this sort of thing. And I wrote some of the owner's manuals, omitting it!
