Why do old Genos registrations (if unmodified) sound better on Genos2?

Several people on the Forum have remarked that their old Genos registrations with no changes, sound better on the Genos2.  I would be grateful to hear a technical explanation for this: the old registrations use old styles and voices and if not changed, use the older DSP (e.g., not Revelation Reverb).  So how can they sound better on Genos2?  [I am moving (slowly due to dealer supply delays) from a Tyros5 to Genos2 and the same question would also applly - but I am not sure anyone on the Forum discussed that.]  In any case, if older model (Genos) registrations are not changed, how can they sound better on Genos2 - as some have reported?

Thanks

It's because G2 voices sound better than G1 voices. These voices get substituted in styles and registrations. This has always been the case when Yamaha rolls out a new keyboard. It happened all the way up the Tyros line.

Note that the substitutions are not universally better. Many aren't, which is why you need to do a lot of tweaking after you upgrade.

Is the substitution the same voice number (MSB  LSB etc.)?
If that is the case  then Yamaha have resampled
the old voice, which is nice. Or is the substitution
some algorithm where new voice numbers are chosen
fir the styles and registration voices?

The sound of Genos 2 is so much improved and therefore the sound of your previous registrations will sound a lot better. Of course you may want to revoice some and that is all part of owning a new keyboard.

It's probably down to the EQ / compressor settings being different on G2 compared to G1.

I don't say It's the case with every voice, but its very clear that several of the "old" Genos sounds that cary over in the G2 sounds way better than on the Genos. There is many things that can be causing this.

1. The use of the new Reverb just gives the Genos2 a "sound space" that is so much better than the Genos.
2. To me it sounds like some of he "old" S.Art sounds have been slightly altered with better logic that just makes them sound more realistic when playing them. I really think many of the sounds have had a bit of a tweak even they aren't listed as actual "new" sapmles.

Just my opinion. I don't have anything that can back it up. And I really havn't gotten thru methicolous to see what may have been changed in the default effect and voice settings in each voice and I don't really care either. Just being happy with those sounds that I feel sound much better ootb without having to tweak them and having to use too many of the fairly small ammount of user this and that, which is annoying to see still is quite limited taking into account how much user memory the instrument have. It can't really be an issue with 15gb user space, other than the ammount of actual user sampling memory which is hardware limited by the VLSI's used and can't be changed by any means other than a new VLSI design. The user space could theoretically be much larger. It's just some kind of SS memory.
